With her special tone and profound ability to story tell through music, reggae singer Lila Ike rose to international success very quickly, and continues etch her mark. Her catalogue with hits like "Where I'm Coming From", "Forget Me", "Second Chance" and more, has seen her nominated for local and international awards and recognition. In this sit-down, Lila discloses her recent battles with mental health, and how it has threatened to halt her progress, but with the support of a great team and loved ones, she's pushing through and showing the world that stigmas and stereotypes ought to be a thing of the past. The future is extremely bright for Lila Ike!

Tears come to my eyes when I see how brave this young lady is. Mental health is no joke and I'm happy to see her assisting the healing by letting it out and cudos to you Yendi for giving her a safe space to do it. The gems from this interview are - you have to support people, put their well being first and nothing diminishes your worth when you speak your truth. God bless you Lila and continue to shine - yuh talented bad!

I literally broke down after she started sharing her fight with mental health issues. As a registered nurse who experiences it firsthand with my patients, I know that it is hard. We need the support of not only our families but the nation altogether. It's time we remove that veil of the stigma keeping persons with mental health issues hiding behind a mask, and openly accept and offer our support to them. 💛

JESUS is the only way.. Broken people can't get fixed with sweet sounding phrases. Only JESUS can so that. If not, she/we will always justify our choices because of our hurts. Life is tough. Folk need to grow up n accept this, and accept that Jehovah provided us all a very expensive solution to our hurt - the death, burial, ressurection of JESUS Christ. BY HIS STIPES WE ARE HEALED. I don’t believe I will ever hear your name called in any argument about exploitative interviews. Protoje keeps on rising in my opinion of him, his protection of Lila is admirable and shows his support of the female artists is not for show but he wants the best for them as people first as well as helping them to be the best artist they can be. Oh gosh man! Lila Ike, forever a fave of mine. Your music is inspiring. I am happy to have been rinsing your music as they dropped and being able to connect with every lyric of every song. The real people who understands that there is an Alecia behind Lila❤️ will be the only ones who when they utter words will say a Prayer for you instead of casting judgement or ill-will. I am truly grateful you are still here and healing, it didn't matter if you came out and speak about the tough things, for me what mattered was you being okay. That's most important for me. Keep being real, sweet and never give up. Yendi, thanks again for always finding and connecting with these gems, we often wait until they have exited this life to speak highly of them. Thanks for holding this space Yendi. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This was tear jerking. I am so proud of how far you have come Lila. Just know that you are on a higher path. Stay in the sun and listen to your soul. Yendi, we all go spiritual when we experience loss or disappointment. Don't under estimate the signs and signal. Trust the process and your spirit guides. That is my message to you both warriors.

Yendi by far your program is a Master Class. In every episode you continue to show Jamaica in a positive light and in this interview you have definitely highlighted a young woman in whom many of our younger generation should seek to emulate. Our musical talent from the dawn of time has been riddled with pockets of excellence and I’m glad to see that the same continues today despite what the main stream media would want to show. I can’t wait to see your interview with Koffee

It is refreshing to see someone so open about their life with mental health issues. It is not an easy road but the acknowledgement of it gives one the power to work through it. Blessings and light to her and to you for always giving a safe space for such openness
