As a person who relates to the story, there's only 3 versions of the song that moved me, made me sobb and touched my heart. Sara Bareilles (obv as she's the composer), Lucie Jones (best Jenna ever) and Ben Platt. Sure lots of people can sing the song, but not everyone can actually deliver with the emotion and sensitivity that the lyrics require. Ben Platt is amazing!! 👏❤️

Unpopular opinion. His voice in this song lacks patience. The vibrato is too quick, his runs never finish, or have weight or meaning. He’s a wonderful singer, not denying that in the slightest. This feels like nervous Evan Hansen as a pregnant waitress. Jeremy Jordon understood the patience and the timing, as did Shoshana, and so many others. Still love him

They all have different takes on the song. That's what's lovely about Broadway and the songs, you can have 3 different people who all have different takes on a song and they're all beautiful in their own ways. In my opinion while sticking close to the Broadway version he did put a little bit of a pop twist to which could be why the timing and such seems a little off to people who like the strict musical version. He likely did this cause this tour doesn't really have much to do with his musical career but his pop music one. It's just as beautiful as the other versions mentioned just in a different way

I disagree. I’ve listened to at least 20 different versions of this song. I just didn’t like some of his stylistic choices. I’m not a Broadway purest in the slightest, but my ears like what they like. They didn’t hate this, but wasn’t my favourite. Love that we can all enjoy what we choose to :)
