The ending is pretty bittersweet now compared to then. On the one hand, this shows how real their friendship is and how much they care about one another. On the other hand, Joe's marriage ends and he voluntarily leaves the show to focus on being closer to his daughter due to the divorce.

And it *is*'required for shows and stuff to blur it because of licensing fees or product displacement (Every country has different laws and policies about this though) Unless a company wants to be hit with a lawsuit or whatever, it is required. Under law it might not be the case, however under their regulations it is required so they can avoid any possible issues.
