My greatest regret in the saga Harry Potter is that Harry and Hermione didn't end together... It seems JK Rowling didn't that because she wanted the 4 main characters to end up together and she couldn't put Ginny and Ron together so she changed her mind (she admitted in an interview that she would have prefered Harmione than Romione. Sorry about my english, I'm French ;)

There is a fan fiction story that i choose to see as cannon because it fits. Hermione and Harry share a moment in the tent, an intimate moment where they both realize that they mean more to each other than just friends. Hermione knows how this will end if they pursue their feelings so she cuts it off, not wanting Harry to lose yet another family. Everything plays out like cannon, Hagrid shows up with Harry dead in his arms only veggie Ginny can scream the sound of Hermione wailing is all anyone can hear. The story is from Ginny's perspective. She sees them try to avoid each other she can tell right off the bat they don't want to hurt anyone. She overhears Hermione tell Harry she made a mistake. Hermione and Harry leave quietly together to his place at Grimalde Place. Ron is utterly clueless just assuming that Hermione is healing Harry cause Ginny is needed at home. Ginny doesn't say anything, she doesn't want to ruin things just yet. When Harry and Hermione arrive together the first thing Ginny notices is how respectful they are to others feelings, how they are quite clearly trying not to hurt anyone. Ginny can see the look of guilt written all over Hermione's face and Ginny makes her own decision. Hermione catches Ginny staring after Harry gives her shoulders a slight squeeze and with tears in her eyes Hermione whispers "I'm so sorry". Without even blinking Ginny wraps Hermione in her arms and tells her softly "if it was going to be anyone but me, I'm glad it was you. You can't help who you love, it's going to be okay, i promise. Don't worry, I'll handle Ron". Hermione is in shock but can see that she had misread Ginny, that Ginny had understood what Harry and Hermione had gone through and that they needed each other. The confrontation with Ron is where i fell is cannon. After Harmony leaves, Ron is confused and Ginny tells him that relationships are never a given and that they are a series of choices. She tries to be gentle, but Ron seems convinced that he and Hermione are a couple. Ginny tells him that he made a choice months ago, a choice that showed Hermione that he runs when things get to hard, he runs while Harry fights. Ginny calmly explains that she is hurting but cannot blame them for choosing each other. They kept each other for months while Ron abandoned them. Ginny tells Ron she always known they cared deeply for each other but would never hurt herself or Ron until Ron made a choice that helped Hermione make a choice. Ron becomes furious until Molly settles him down and tells him he needs to except this because she isn't letting either Harry or Hermione feel unwelcomed. It was an incredible story

She compared her similarities to Hermione and Harry was like "So sue me, I like strong willed women". She also compared the things that set Hermione apart. The author used all cannon events as if laying out her case for why this would happen lol

She told Ron she loved him and if Hermione and him wanted to be together, she would have supported that. "But Ron, I have to be honest dear, I never quite saw this has something that could last". She tells him that while they loved each other, they had quite a few differences that Molly always felt would make things hard. She also felt that while Ron was not quite right for Hermione "Ron she may not have been the one for you, it goes both ways dear. She isn't going to ever be the kind of witch I think you're looking for, who stays at home, cooks, raises a family, kind of like me. Harry on the other hand needs someone independent like your sister and Hermione, sorry Ginny." It was a good story.
