Between "Molly" and "Really Scared" Lil D hits these chill beats perfectly. Like others have said... honest and deep. All the materialistic rap doesn't hit the feels nearly as these tracks. Hope he does more serious in depth raps.

I first heard this song when I was 22 and contemplating leaving my career to go back to school to become an engineer. Everyone thought I was absolutely insane but I knew it was what I wanted. Fast forward 5 years and I’m now pursuing my masters in mechanical engineering, this song helped me anytime I started doubting myself ! Love this shit 🤙🏾

Since this virus ive been catching up on his repertoire. Hes right when he says hes the best rapper alive. Ever. Nobody can fuck with this wordplay or consistency...and flow. And above all hes kind. He makes rap for everybody to listen to and enjoy. The power of mind it takes to cross bridges like hes doing truly makes him progressive which means hes truly changing the game. Which makes him prophetic since hes been saying this all along. Nobody can deny his genius

Look man, I love this shit. Lyrically this is amazing, Not many rappers now-a-days can influence so many people in such a positive way, just by music. Im a young buck still, only 22.. I moved out of my parents house and i feel like im no where right now. I was bullied my entire life, had no friends and hung on to sanity through music. I lost a dog, a bird, my uncle passed away, my grandpa passed away, I live 3,200 miles away from my family, all within the past year. Ive been jobless for almost 7 months now. Im scared, i dont want to lose everything i love because of life. Im scared to lose my loved ones due to my failure and it sucks to know there ARE others out there going through the same shit. Im still holding on, and music like this opens my mind to a reality where you can only reach your dreams by swimming through your failures... By wading through the shit life throws at you..

Excellent track. There's no doubt you're going to big places, and I don't blame you for being a little scared. My only worry, as a creative person myself, is that working too hard, even on something you're passionate about, can cause severe burnout. Don't be afraid to take a vacation here and there.

I can't wait for whatever new music you present to the dickheads and to the world. Thank you again. -jose "that dude" front row, brian dawkins, endless moments where we both rapped word for word. I even had shared moments with your hype man which was dope. It'd be dope to get a reply, but if not man I really hope you the best & maybe one day be homies cause I see myself in your art, that's why I gravitated to it so damn easily and I'm proud to be a dickhead. Dave I feel like you poured my own heart into this track and expressed them into lyrics. No matter what situation people are in they can match these lyrics to their context because you poured raw emotion into the lyrics.. thank you for being real with yourself and with your fans, you're not doing the rap game different, you doing it right.

I know I'm not the first to say something like this, but this song right here.... this song has gotten me through some of the hardest moments of my life, and I never even knew that was possible.. A FREAKING SONG. It's crazy how relatable I feel to Lil Dicky some times, only instead of rapping, I'm shooting for my PhD in Biochemistry, among other things. Honestly I never get tired of this music. I know just about every lyric of everything he's put out and it never gets old. But this song right here? Something special tto be said about it's ability to keep me going. Thank You Lil Dicky!

Just noticed that around 3:40 he references the song "Molly" when talking about ending up at the wedding as a guest, not the groom and regretting it all. Like if you are listening in 2016.
@MikeyChy
@MikeyChy 8 жыл бұрын
He didn't reference it, it wasn't even a thing before this came out, it's based on a true story that he's been bottling up for so long. Molly.

One of my buddies at work is doing his first rap show this upcoming Monday night. I played this song for him today, told him I felt that he should really hear it before he did his first show. You're goddamn legit Lil Dick. Glad I got to meet you, keep on doing it and I'll be here when you're doin' it big. Another co-worker (who I've never spoken about your music with) came into work singing "Lemme Freak" the other day. Said that song made him look at all your other shit. Dicky, we made it.

[Intro: Lil Dicky] Yeah, I feel like people are really weird about admitting when they're scared If you're not scared ever, you're just lying or something. You're being weird [Verse 1: Lil Dicky] Ten days in the Bay left And I don't mean to overthink that Got a one-way straight to LAX And I ain't blinked yet I know you think that I done figured out this whole thing Like where his chink at? Segue to Lil Dicky getting bigger than Yao Ming But can I shrink that? Where my shrink at? I don't know what to feel, everything has gotten totally real Everything I always wanted right in front of me with nobody near So it's weird that I'm overly scared, but I'm so unprepared Holding a beer, I'm witholding the fear Not in the clear but I'm kind of revered And yeah I might appear like the chill type The veneer's not real in the real-life What it feel like? Thanksgiving I was missing, I ain't even miss 'em Girlfriend hella distant, I ain't even listen Only shit I really care about is spittin writtens This is the beginning I'm just getting into the game My world's not spinning the same The shit looking like it's bigger than Dave It's so crazy But when all this sit in the stake I can't brake Even if I'm afraid it might change me [Pre-Chorus: Azadeh] Baby if you let me You know I could get deep Baby hope you ready I'm coming through Running you That's what I do Just know that it's all for you So what you gonna choose? Afraid to say OK [Chorus: Azadeh] And I know I'm not gonna get in the way But I'm afraid Who I want to be is what I became But I'm ashamed Ain't no coming back Facing what I wanted But it's all fucking weird And now I'm really scared [Verse 2: Lil Dicky] I ain't made from the projects But you know I treat the game like a project So you know it's not the same kind of progress Different process, but I digress Other rappers didn't blow overnight They ain't have a 9-5 that was totally ripe They was all up on the grind from the moment they write At 25, hadn't even done a show in my life It's like - "Damn, I'm a rapper, how did that happen?" I was making ass then back when Only used to rapping to my Mac then pack then Views came through, like "Shoot, let's practice" Trying to tell you I'm not bred for this shit Despite that, feeling like I'm meant for this shit But like that, everything depends on this shit? And I ain't betting against it But I ain't had a moment to reflect what I'm betting against it I'm next even though it's pretentious, I sense it Relentless, but it leave me defenseless I guess I should learn to accept it but it's hectic Oh, you want a condensed list? I'm worried that I'm about to give my all to it, 100% You ain't got to know it all to discover what's left Pretty fucking intense And I'm worried that I got a lot of gall when it comes to success Telling y'all that it's 100% But what happens if I fall short of what I call the surest of bets? Cause what's 100%? What's 100% is that it'll take a lot to make me content And I'm about to chase around a legend that I fucking invented While I'm neglecting everybody that I love and respected Because I hate the thought of coming in second And I don't want to do no second guessing when it comes to progressing Because I really couldn't stomach regretting my effort When I'm at the end and I'm assessing if I could have done better I better be able to be it than never, or be the best ever But if somehow I'm really that special then I'm about to deal with mad pressure I fear that when I finish my assessment I'mma be in depression Because I'll see a lot of me is regressing It's obvious to me that to be the best a lot of me is repressing itself I wonder what I'll see in reflections? I wonder if I'll run into a woman, cool, but come in second Or if I'm bound to be the fool at the weddings Alone and regretting the whole thing Now you're seeing why it's so big What would y'all do if y'all were the old me? Get involved and you gotta give the whole thing This is no fling, this devoting Every mother fucking part of yourself No matter whatever the cards you was dealt You going all in I don't know about y'all, but I'm gone And I don't know if I'm balling or bawling [Pre-Chorus: Azadeh] If you let me You know I could get deep Baby hope you ready I'm coming through Running you That's what I do Just know that it's all for you So what you gonna choose? Afraid to say OK [Chorus: Azadeh] And I know I'm not gonna get in the way But I'm afraid Who I want to be is what I became But I'm ashamed Ain't no coming back Facing what I wanted But it's all fucking weird And now I'm really scared
