Lilley's One Cast, April 5

Perseverance pays off today on One Cast. Normally it takes many hours fishing on Lake Taneycomo to catch a brown trout, and many more to get a keeper. Blake does it twice in less than an hour. And it wasn't his first of the day either.

They're seeing a lot of shad right now but we do throw sculpin patterns too.

Blake, what rod, reel and line are you using for browns?

We use either a 6' or 6'6" rod medium action with 6 pound mono. The reel is a Pflueger President 25

This is the bait we're using most of the time for drifting on the bottom. You can use any bait that's close to it - make sure it floats and about this size. Color should be close to shad color. But this bait is moving pretty fast so color or style isn't making much of a difference.
