This is the problem with all government services. If I pay a baker for bread, he takes my money and gives me bread. Some of the money covers expenses, but the bread is fairly low cost, while still being profitable because few hands were involved. If the government made the same bread and passed the cost directly to you without subsidizing it, only the elites could afford bread, because that bread must now pay for an entire office of staff to run the bakery, an entire office to hold them accountable, a separate number of staff in a payroll office, etc, etc. One baker can do the job cheap, but the government needs to spend orders of magnitude more for the same result...plus they overpay for everything along the way.

His billion dollars for 400,000 kids (his numbers) works out to about $5 a child a day. From that has to come the Federal bureaucracy to run it plus the the whatever other admin costs are attached. There won't be much left for the kids.

So my wife saw this announcement first and she came to me quite indignant and offered a couple of interesting questions and comments; Who will run this program, is it a personal friend of Trudeau, or will it be offered open to bids, so the Arrive Canada fiasco came to mind as fast as lightning. He is propping a friend of his financially on our taxes. The other question was more to herself and to the other Canadian mothers; Do I want the state to feed my children??? That opened all sorts of questions in my mind, is this one step closer to the Socialism/Communism the WEF has mandated of Trudeau and Guilbault for Canada? The education is already in the hands of radical socialists why not the feeding of the children? Another question she had was: what kind of food these idiots will be providing for the children? Who is going to be inspecting and ensuring the proper diet and nutrition given to the children? Will it be another of Trudeau's moronic friends? Lots of questions, very little to no answers.

It’s odd, but when my kids started school I was certain that it was our job as parents to feed them. I never thought it was anyone else’s responsibility. Sure, to begin with we made their lunches. After a while, they started making their own lunches because they could decide what they wanted to eat and how much. The other kids got pre-packaged crap, but ours never did. They had real, home made food. Why do some people believe the state has to feed their kids? Feed them yourself.
