you should try redoing the same concept with supplies you do like!! Or another video using the supplies you DIDN'T get from the stocking (the leftovers)! As always, 10/10 video.

I loved this piece! The colors and blending in the trout were actually really good in my opinion!
@thinkerdreamersketcherspy11 ай бұрын
The sensory issues with pastels could be helped with gloves, silicone brushes ("colour shapers") and... water! Alcohol is also a cool medium. 😜 Idk if you can handle the "makeup feel" if working with regular brushes. Your sister was def mean, but party trout wins! Such a cool character and I loved the colour palette.

Well I think that the final result is way better than expected for being working with materials you really dislike for sensorial reasons, like is something you can't control or choose to, so you should be proud to pull through and getting a nice illustration, not all pieces needs to be masterpieces sometimes just try stuff and maybe relax a bit is good for us as artists!

Hearing you talk so bad about this piece was honestly so relatable because it looks amazing to me it looks fun and very charming! I know you did not have fun but i think this is an incredible piece and i guess i should look at my art in a better light as well

hi there! love this piece, great idea with the frog. but i have some tips for fixative!! im a graphite artist and use it all the time. you should hold the can much farther away from the piece (8-12in) it should tell you in the directions on the can. and you also want to do short sprays and go from left to right (or right to left) and go from the top of the piece to the bottom feathering it out on either side just like using spray paint. also two or three layers works best with dustier materials. make sure you let it dry between layers. it should help you with the texture and drips etc!

Hi omg I'm in the same boat with pastels 😢 this is weird but I've seen in doll repainting videos that they'll scrap the chalk pastels with like a knife to make powder, which can then be layered! Maybe like pan pastels?

Hey I think u might be spraying too close to ur piece, it’s less grainy if it’s further away from the paper(it doesn’t get as wet)-P.S. luv ur vids😇🤟

There are powderless medical gloves that you probably can use when you draw with pastels.

I am an art supply horder, that said i don't tend to keep supplies i absolutely hate to use... so I'm wondering why you still have the pastels, like why not donate them or bring them to an art supply swap? I'm guessing you had to buy them for a class or they were a gift, but either way if you don't hate the look of pastels, just the feel of them in your hands you should try pan pastels
@Lilstarnerd11 ай бұрын
I keep them because they’re actually old hand me downs from my dad! They also (theoretically) have a purpose- back in the day i did lots of pieces with pastel PENCILS and these were for the backgrounds/large areas!

Okey, I don't know if you have sensory issues with gloves (like the latex ones). But dry pastels should preferably be handled with them. I personally think they are the second most toxic media just behind oils, mostly because I used to use a lot of them in my art course, and they literally whipe out my digits. Also, since they are powders, you do have to keep an eye for inalation. So yeah, definitely recommend gloves or maybe brushes and apply them like you would apply makeup ( don't know if that works)
@thinkerdreamersketcherspy11 ай бұрын
Why would oils be more toxic than anything else? Or do you mean the (optional) solvents?
@DalekWidow11 ай бұрын
I don't have sensory issues with soft pastels but when I use them I wrap aluminum foil around the end of each stick to minimise the mess.
