I just happened upon your video of Lily and I have to tell you that I enjoyed the way you and she worked together. She made me laugh when she continued to turn circles when she retrieved something, showing true PWD spirit of independence. Thanks for your hard work with training her and putting this video here for others to admire. Found myself cheering her along the way, saying "Mark, baby, mark! Bring it to Mom."

Thank you for your very sweet comments. Your observations about her circling objects made me realize that she was "herding" them first. Yes, these intelligent fuzzy dogs do have a mind of their own. Lily never ceases to surprise and amaze me with the things she can do with minimal training. I'm a very lucky Mom! I appreciate the time you took to post here, thanks again Victoria.

My breeder was Linda Fowler. Rae (Butch) Kweder introduced me to the breed years ago. I fell in love with her Neecho first, then the rest of their dogs. What an amazing breed! There are memories to last a lifetime. The cutest thing I ever saw was at a show in Monterey, CA. Very young puppies were trimmed in the lion cut! Oh my, they left a last impression on me....

Absolutely marvellous, your training & what Lily is capable off is admirable. A wonderful strong dog. Watching her work fills my heart with joy & admiration of this fabulous breed. I am very lucky to have one in our family.

Thank you Maureen! It is generous of you to say it was my training but it is Lily that trained me. I just drive her to the trials and she does her thing. We are very lucky to have PWDs--they are smart, succeed at just about any sport or task they are given, and work hard to please their human partners.

Awww thanks Mary! Our family used to vacation in Rhinelander so I know what you mean about the B52 sized 'skeeters. Best of luck to you and your boy next season. Email me if you feel like chatting.

cathie426 Cathy, I am not very KZbin or Facebook savvy. Is there any way to exchange email info without the whole world being able to see the info? You have done such a good job with Lily and I have had Porties foe 25 years. I am sure that we have a lot of stories to share. Mary

That was fun to watch. My portie puppy loves swimming and retrieving her frisbee. They are so cute. Was that video part of a competition or did Lily earn any special certificate?

Thank you for the compliment! Lily was entered into a water trial in Arizona and she earned her Working Water Dog Title with the Portuguese Water Dog Club at that time. My sister filmed Lily's "run" and then I did the editing and music add-ons. If your puppy likes to swim and retrieve, you can find a local PWD club in your area and train for the water trial events. Good fun for you and your dog!
