This is a beginners tutorial on rigging with Limber right here - what is it not covering that you want to see? For walking, there are lots of tutorials out there already.

Hey there! How can we delete the rigs to get back to the original Artwork? And is ist possible to turn off the rotation of a controller?
@animatabledotco16 күн бұрын
If you want art layers to be preserved after rigging, head in to Settings and uncheck 'Delete Artwork after rigging'. Then, any art layers will just have their visibility turned off when you rig them instead of being deleted. limber.docs.animatable.co/settings/#other-settings Start, End and FreeK Controllers don't rotate. But if you meant Locators, there is an 'Auto-rotate' property on their pseudo-effect that you can set to zero. limber.docs.animatable.co/locators/#locator-rotation

So is it possible for precomp limbs to be able to work with actual precomp layers? For example, lets say I am using the SF Caddy plugin to make it look like the body is rotating in some angles. SF Caddy works with putting those parts in a precomp. Can I attach lets say, an upper arm in a precomp set to different arm bend rotations to this precomp limb?
@animatabledotco4 ай бұрын
Yes! We knew this would be a powerful workflow so we tested it. You can even add properties in your precomps to Essential Properties, access them in the limb layer comp, and pipe them upstream to the Essential Properties of that comp, so they are accessible in the master comp where you animate. My recommendation would be to control / keyframe those different poses manually rather than trying to expression-link them to the limb rotation values… but it might work out. Also, make your precomps long enough for your longest master comp. We have a feature to extend precomp limb durations but it doesn't dive in to sub-precomps and extend those. That was a big ol can of worms when we looked into it.

I've just purchased this today. Did you previously have a tutorial about limbs switching or passing in front of other layers? I'm animating a guy with a hi-viz jacket on, so the arms need to pass in front of the body at some points, but the upper arm and shoulder needs to sit behind the hi-viz jacket layer. Would it be a case of duplicating the arm later and hiding the upper arm? Thanks for this video. It was a good explainer!

You usually need to have two copies of the limb layer(s) or two copies of the body, to effectively switch layer order. If it's the limb you dupe, have a quick read about orphan limb layers: limber.docs.animatable.co/duplicate-copy-paste/#orphaned-limb-layers Feel free to ask more in our Discord: discord.gg/tZ6yUZGERN

How should I rig the fingers of a hand? Because fingers would have 4 points if you take it from the knuckle to the finger tip. So how to achieve that?
@animatabledotco2 ай бұрын
Rigging fingers will be a lot more intuitive once we add the 3-bone limbs in 2025. In the meantime, check out the limb 'Finger' in the Limb Library. It's basically a 2-bone limb with an FK extension which is not too hard to replicate with different styles. If you want more info join our Discord and ask there discord.gg/tZ6yUZGERN

When I duplicate a limb, is there a way to reflect it / flip horizontal (L -> R for front character) ? Can't find it. Thanks
@animatabledotco2 ай бұрын
That sounds like you want the 'Flip Art' checkbox: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYmVg3WlnN94hdk

how to you scale limbs to fit existing artwork? Tried adding limbs from library but they're all huge and even when parented together they don't seem to want to scale.

Does Limber 2 have heel or toe roll options?
@animatabledotco4 ай бұрын
It will do when we add 3-bone Limbs! That'll be within the next 12 months and it'll be a free update. In the meantime it's actually pretty easy to rig feet with heel roll. James Hazael did a good tutorial on it, on Vimeo

Can limber 2 animate hands?
@animatabledotco3 ай бұрын
Strictly speaking, Limber 2 doesn't animate anything. You have to do that part! We just handle the rigging in such a way that makes the animating easier. But if you mean can Limber 2 RIG hands, the answer is… kinda. A lot of folks have used Limber limbs as fingers when the shot is close-up on the hands. If you're rigging a whole character, I wouldn't usually recommend doing that. Limber is not designed for hand rigging. Personally, I recommend animating hands with no or very little rigging at all - basically animate them by hand (!)
