Limbus Company is the third game by a studio I pledged my soul to, Project Moon, which means now I play a gacha game daily. My younger self is laughing at me.

So, the friend system allows you to, before fights, enter team edit mode, click a sinner as if to change their identity, click the support button, and use one of your friends' sinners if any of your friends have an id for that sinner set in their profile, including level, uptie, and ego. This, at one point, even allowed you to have 6 people in combat, but that has since been fixed. I had to google how to do this, even though I knew it was possible, since you can't do it from the main menu, only from the preparation screen before fights.

Can we appreciate how phenomenal the voice acting is? As someone who has played LoR but has a bestie who hasnt, i tried convincing her to try out the game (yes i did show her the trigger warnings beforehand) but she didn't want to cuz it didnt have any eng voice acting. Later she gave it a go and she said she got chills from how good the voice acting is (as PM fan, yes their casting for voice acting is always phenomenal), and was surprised by Sinclair's va.

Something that really struck me especially frim ch2 is how different the tone is from LC and LoR. It feels a good deal lighter, but at the same time I don't ever get the feeling that it makes the rest of the story harder ti take seriously. The game knows when some sinners should be talking and when some should not be shown. Plus it is genuinely funny which is not something I expected. LoR had a couple funny moments but limbus is on a whole other level

About the friend system not being usable, it's incredibly hidden but as you select sinners for a level you flip the little yellow switch below the 4/4 or 5/5 sinners selected to change their identities. From there you can find a support tab at the top and then you pick an ID that a friend set up You can only do this before you load into a mission or story dungeon, it is not accessible for Luxcavations or Mirror Dungeons, and it actually allows you to bypass the sinner cap by deploying the support sinner on mission start UNLESS you're in a story dungeon, then the support becomes part of your roster and does take up a slot, not bypassing the sinner cap.

I'm new to the PM series and I played a lot of gachas, and I can tell that this is the MOST friendly gacha ever, even I can say that this gacha system is just made to have the more versions of your fave sinner, you can actually beat these 3 first chapters with the base characters, just you need tho grind their levels... But here is fun and fast, usually grinding in other gachas is boring to play and too way repetitive, here can be very smooth, funny and random, there's no ''farm meta'' also here you're forced to play with some characters, wich can soun bad, but actually is very good because your fave character IS useful and can be used in a lot of teams and their identities too. IDK about the standard of PM gamas, but as a gacha is a solid game, even the story is so fun to read and watch that you don't want to skip it, the characters are so interesting and the game so unusual for a gacha, I just fell in love with this game

The standard for PM games is very much "This is jank made by like 20 people, but it's incredibly dense and engaging jank", Lobcorp and Ruina are both about 100h long and I cherish my time spent with both.

The 000/UR identites are fun, but I especially love some of the 00/SR identities, like Ishmael with a gun. The gacha part is sad, and I really hope that el director is honest about only using this to raise money for other projects but I'm having a lot of fun so far and I only paid for the limbussy pass.

You can get every gacha items by grinding the mirror dungeon to level up the bp. 3-4 MD runs a day will net you a 3 star identity or ego of choice every 2 weeks

Bonus points for the Ligma Pass actually giving a ton of really good stuff (half of which is free!) and being insanely easy to completely level between daily/weekly/seasonal missions and mirror dungeon

Even though mirror dungeons are currently pretty easy (hard mode mirror dungeons have been confirmed in the roadmap) making the mirror dungeons a roguelike makes the daily grind feel less monotonous since there will always be some variability to your runs.

There is a reason the Sin Affinities don't include Greed it's because the game itself is already a manifestation of greed. Jokes aside this game is very generous for a gacha, if you have a gambling addiction I'd probably stay away regardless but I've managed pretty well despite being F2P. The game is pretty good where it lets you grind for E.G.O. alts.

The things I love from Limbus Gacha system is, you just need to get the IDs once and no need a dupes to do something like break limit your Sinner/Chara like most majority of gacha game. I mean, yeah Thread only can be get from exchange Sinner Shard, but those Shard is farmable tho or even if your gacha get many of base IDs Sinner, the Shard that you got from those base IDs dupes can be used as break limit any IDs that you have, because Thread is universal for all Sinners So... For a person who have great miserable gacha luck like me, this system is great one, because of my sucks luck I just need to get those IDs once and we're done with that IDs, even tho until now my 000 IDs that I got from gacha just full of Yi Sang Blade Lineage IDs and Heath R Team (my newbie banner gacha) dupes like fricking many even in my Faust and Meursault banner just got those 2 when it's come to 000 IDs 😂

One hope I have for the future of Limbus company is that Dante becomes playable at some point with the ability to retreat if their health becomes low. Something akin to G-corp manager Outis but with buffs based on the sin synergy type.

@ 5:07: this is actually incorrect, non-abno combat targeting works more like this; the highest speed roll on one team always targets the slowest speed on the opposing team, then works down until it cycles back around.

A friend of mine invited me to play this because he is a fan of PM. I was nearly sure since it was gacha i would hate it, get frustrated, drop it asap (and even thought it'd be banned since i'm in a country that ban those). Man, i was very plesantly surprised at how nicely done this game is. You can do the entire content with the base characters, so no need to even gacha pull tbw. You get the whole cast, so no real "missing gameplay" like your usual gacha. The drop rate is actually pretty nice, and if you only keep for banners, the chances seem high enough. And even then after a while you can get most characters for free because just playing gives you what's needed to get them garanteed. But the best part has to be the story. Even with just the base characters, the songs, VAs, levels, the gameplay system, the bosses and themes : all is very nice and would make for a good strategy game if they removed the gacha itself. It's funny how the only bad part of this gacha to me is that it's a gacha, not even the gacha elements. I still hate gacha, i still consider it something that should be banned and a thing devs should stray away from for monetisation. But this one is the only game of that type that gets a pass, simply because the world building, gameplay and visual is a 10/10. Worth a shot imo, definitely recommending for at least the story only. But beware it is still a gacha, gambling inducing to those who can't hold their credit cards in their pockets. Do not pay money if you don't want to support the devs in future projects. It is still a casino gambling game, and i basically got everything i wanted without paying a penny just by grinding a bit and having my friend teaching me the mechanics. I hope their next game is a straight up paid no gacha game, will definitely check it out then.

9:55 there is still no way to grind Lunacy. you can grind Ego-shard by finishing the pass and continue farming miror dungeon, but lunacy are pretty limited each day. (or I may have missed something)

It's funny you mention the deals because since I play a lot of gachas Dx2 Liberators and Lord Of Heros are the only gacha I play that pop up with deals that I can remember. As a "veteran" of all type of gacha. Let just say this game give me ...... whiplash. I was expecting dailies, weeklies quest (multiple type not just the current one in battlepass). I was expecting to be plastered with all type of quest to do for the day, logging in at certain time to earn energy to play, exhausting low energy recharge rates, red dots all over the menu to trigger my brain to click on them for tasks and "rewards", etc, etc, ... basically all the skinner box tactics use in other gacha games to urge players to return everyday. It gives me so much whiplash that I actually took this game very easily, to the point that I already see people completeing the bp and was shocked, thinking they were paying for bp tiers when they were just replaying mirror dungeons to get bp tiers. So far my main gripe with the game is the absolutely piss poor tutorial. No not the combat tutorial, the leveling tutorial, I didn't know I could uptier my identities, and also my ego too. Like the hell? why is my 0 id, stronger than my lvl 30 000 IDs??? Also there should be somewhere that told us that spare BP currency are auto converted into EGO boxes??? I'd have rushed the BP had I known. Also the gacha in this game is in fact, NOT the most lenient. I have seen even more lenient gacha system than Limbus. The gacha system in Limbus is nothing new, there are plenty of games with this system. Although if you give Limbus gacha system to any modern gacha player, they would probably laugh. What do you mean there isn't a reroll system for the new account banner? There are no guaranteed roll systems? Why is the banner probabilities explanation written in such a convoluted way?

I couldnt get into how long dailies/weeklies take (about 3hrs, 30mins each day) despite knowing there was no fomo. Energy systems or most rewards being given as daily/weekly killed any drive i had since i knew id feel bad if I missed a day... Maybe thats been fixed since but sadly the moment has passed for me.

@@Vtubears it has changed not mutch but efficiency to get it done has improved click skip button get 1.5 resources for exp and tread runs cost a bit extra causing energy efficiency to be not good but time efficiency is great about 1&2 minutes to get the luxavations done then doing 1-2 30 minute runs is good soon they are changing the MD so let see if it get better and more intresting as it is starting to get stale as i know how to do it in the most optimized way with ego gifts and the team rotations are getting a tad bit stale

And that fact is not widely proclaimed by Rodya, but she can't help thinking of herself as above other people.

Well, for Rodion, I would argue if she did nothing wrong. Firstly, she reminds me of other PM characters - Roland, Elena, Garion and Ayin. For Ayin, even you said that his kneecups should be broken. He really went and made a hell on earth, but he at least had a purpose - make twisted version of heaven on earth. And he also tried to be sorry, even if he couldn't properly be, because his own plan insisted on no-emotion-speedrun. Garion mostly killed because of her job, but as she said herself "I killed my anxiety for the sake of survival, but everything else I did was of my own volition". She acknowledges that she killed. She may not feel sorry for it, she may not mourn those that she killed, but she takes the responsibility of their death on herself, because she was the cause. Roland is a bit worse, but he got his wife killed. And he also at least aknowledges the fact of killing, even if he tries not to blame herself and tell that it is how the City works, while being tormented even by those last kills, in the Library. And Elena. Oh shit, I hate her so much. She clearly kills others because she just wants - and I think this is bad, this is very bad. She haven't got anything from all those she killed. It was aimless. And even like this, when the Ensemble is siedging the Library, Elena has guts to come to Garion, and tell 800567 theories about why Elena is not mindless killer, but "only a human in a human form", and she is not sane, and she is a monster because everyone else is a monster. She tries to find millions of excuses, and all of them lies. I think she believes in her own lies so much, that she can't even believe she killed anyone without need. And I remind you - everything in the City has a purpose. Starting from gears, and ending on Abnormalities - even death from Abnormality has a purpose - before employee dies, he yields enormous amounts of energy. And then we see Rodion. I will not say that those are my final words, because I believe that PM will give more light on everyone at future, so she may come different, but for now, Rodion is like Elena. Gregor is a war veteran, and has his arm - he thinks low of himself because of it, etc, etc. Sinclair doesn't have his own voice - he relies on others, and he punishes himself for it. The same can be said about almost all sinners. But there is Rodion, who just thought that rules won't work on her, that she is some kind of Chosen. And when the inevitable punishment for crime arrived, she... was offended. Because she thought of herself as god, that can do what she wants, and reality does not works like that. It's such a twisted kind of view. And in the original book it is the same. Rodion kills old woman, gains NOTHING from it, tries to find excuses why he is in a more pitiful state(he lives on his mother's and sister's money, does not work, tells everyone that he studies and he doesn't - those are just bits) then a poor girl, who needs to work as a prostitute to gave her family something to eat. And Rodion thinks of himself either as god, who just got unlucky, or as a poor man, who got unlucky from the start, and who will have to suffer his whole life. Both Rodions for some reason think that justice works only in their favor. It is such a twisted view on the world, that I want to puke every time I hear about Rodion.

I can understand how she reminds you of Elena or Roland as they share rodions trait of being blinded by their immediate desire, Roland and Elena not realizing how their suffering is in a way deserved by the life they lived is directly paralel to Rodion not realizing what consequences her actions will have due to her desire to feel special. I don't quite see how Rodion reminds you of Ayin and Garion when they are very distinct in that manner as they tend to look beyond their personal issues and see things in the greater context. The one time Ayin gets in a similar situation as he extracts the information out of Garion he doesn't feel just or that he's doing a good thing, instead the actions he does break him inside despite it being done to someone that just killed almost all the people he cared about. He knows his actions will cause more pain but proceeds because they must be done for a greater good rather than for his self satisfaction,

@@theresnothinghere1745 Yes, that is kind of what I tried to say. There are characters who do actions to accomplish something, even if those actions are very, very bad, and only two characters - Elena and Rodion do actions just because. I do not know if it is a bad writing, or I just don't understand something, but I hope Rodion will get a magical knowledge of some sort, from Carmen or anyone else, to change her way of life. Or she is not Chosen as Sonya stated, and she will die like a trash, kek.

And also. I do not mean that Elena or Rodion are so-bad-written characters, that you should not use them, or anything else. I am a Elena simp, and she looks really cool, elegant, and high-born, I adore artworks with her. It's just that in game both of those characters, their goals and motivs handled strangely, so we need to more love our head canon versions of both, I think.

@@qifeetrying I wouldn't say 'Elena and Rodion do actions just because' rather they do it out of self interest. That's not inherently good or bad either. Elena was bad because she was completely unreflective, her talk with Binah highligheted this she didn't really see why people were angry with her. Rodion instead actually accepts the consequences of her mistake. The reason she is in Limbus rather than going to join Sonya is because she feels like she deservers punishment. Her guilt prevents her from moving into the ideal world Sonya tries to sell her. So while she shares similarities with Roland and Elena ultimately I think she's a better person than either for holding herself accountable to an extent after she made a mistake.

@@theresnothinghere1745 I think we just need to wait before discussing Rodion, since not all came out. I may be too harsh on her right now. And PM often make characters who act similar to the original reference, but the end is different, so only PM writer knows the end for her story. Now that I thought of it, maybe Sonya just used Rodion, and now she torments herself for that? We have 12 (or 13) different stories where each person wants to atone for sins he/she made, I think, and since every character has it's own judgement, not all their sins may be viable/worth atoning for my view of the world.

I am glad that others also feel that its odd for a staunchly anti-capitalist series to have a gacha instalment haha. Currently up to [redacted chapter 3 final boss I'm stuck on] and personally I am enjoying Limbus so far, but the gamefeel and character writing isn't quite hitting the same levels as lob/ruina for me yet. But! I am very hopeful and excited to see where this goes (Also RODYA DID NOTHING WRONG!!!!!!!)

I got good news for ya. You only need to best the first phase of the chapter 3 final boss. Source, I lost to phase 2 and still got the victory.

@@imranicanovic1154 oh really??? Sweet! Now I just gotta figure out how to get past phase one 😅 sadly the only Sinclair I have is blunt DMG so even with his buff he doesn't do much haha

@@9thelof9 well I managed to get to the end of phase one with anyone I had that didn't do bleed or fire damage. So in the end I had to resort to the base identities I had. If anything just use whoever ya have that doesn't to bleed or fire. Then you should be able to get it. For example Blade Lineage Yi Sang is okay since he builds poise instead of status effects and if you want you can upgrade identities outside of dungeons and it'll effect those same identities inside the dungeon.

The anti-capitalist part of the setting really just feels like a reflection of SK more than the series itself being anti-capitalist. PM's motto is wealth and fame and ontop of them having a caffe the director has a wish of owning a theme park one day.

I have a real hard time justifying microtransactions in any game, let alone microtransactions in a singleplayer gacha game. I realize it’s free, but there’s a reason it’s free. It’s much easier to get someone to spend money on something they’re already enjoying. And you can bet your bottom dollar (literally) that the developers will make your first few hours as enjoyable as possible. These kinds of games are predatory by their very nature. They prey on the poor souls who are easily addicted and have poor impulse control. If that in any way describes you, please stay away from all gacha titles.
