I am 68, just had cataract surgery. Being a photographer and critical about vision, I have always had glass Corning Photogrey Extra lenses. They, unlike plastic Transitions, darken in the car. And scratching is not an issue with glass. With the superior optics of glass and the fact they will darken in a car it surprises me that more problem prone plastic lenses are preferred seemingly because of slightly lighter weight. The chemical in Photogrey lenses is a silver halide that responds to light, just like photographic film. The chemical in plastic lenses is different apparently since it reacts to UV light. I assume you can and have ordered Photogrey lenses before. Let me ask a question I have never seen addressed. So here is a question. Can a mirror flash be put on glass Photogrey Extra lenses, and if so will it work? (I think Corning now makes an even darker glass photochromic called "Thin and Dark" os something like that.)

Hello there. Glass lenses are becoming more and more rare as time goes on. It seems fewer and fewer labs are willing to work with glass. Because of that there are fewer lens options in glass, and that is the reason more people are wearing Transitions lenses in plastic materials. They are now in the 8th generation and the technology is now very good with light responsiveness. You are right that glass is harder to scratch, but photogray has a shorter lifespan in terms of its ability to clear back up. It gradually loses that ability and looks grey all the time even indoors. All of that aside, the answer to your question is yes. We can put a flash mirror on a photogrey lens. These look amazing! I have a question. I recently purchased a transition mirror lenses where gray is the base color and mirror green tint. I didnt realize that i should chosen green base and then mirror green. Do you think the gray and greeen mirror combo will still look good? Im not sure how it will look since i havent received my glasses yet.. but i was aiming for a pure green tinted look

Transitions Clear to Grey with a Green Mirror is the standard way that 99% are made. When they darken the mirror will look green. It will look nice. The custom lens in this video is to create Yellow Green look in the light tinted indoor state.

I live in a metro area with over a million population. I simply can't find a shop selling Transitions that will make style mirrors for me. None even know that the style mirrors have an anti reflective back coating. Why are shops so ignorant of what they have to sell? Most have not even heard of Style Mirrors! I'm really frustrated! I may have to mail order which will make any potential issues more of a problem.

I love the lime green tint but i would be interest in adding it to Graphite green Xtractive. But I would not be mad at all with your setup using Xtractive grey. What is the VLT % for the lime green tint. I'll be sending you an email for pricing details and service you provide.

The darkness or density of the lime green is about 25 to 30%.

Yes, you can! You might want to watch my video on what Transitions Style Mirrors look like that are clear. The mirror is still slightly visible, so they are not as clear as lenses without a mirror. The frame featured in this video was the Original Pilot in Silver in the 55 eye size with Bayonet temples. How do the Xtractive New Gen compare to the Zeiss Adaptive Sun ? Do they get as dark, and more specifically are they as dark inside a car ?

Hi! Wish I found you before my order today! I got pink flash mirror I guess for inside over XtraActive 2.0 Grey...I'm still confused on how it'll look, however will I see pink inside? I didn't think of that haha I wanted the color for others to see. Will be pretty but does it get annoying seeing everything indoors in a different color? Love your videos! May get another pair of glasses for your gradient options!

Hello Bianca. The pink will show more on the outside than on the inside, so no need to worry about how it will look. It will look good! You will also not see pink or really any color when you look through them because flash mirrors do not usually cause a visible color shift for most people.
