The decision you made to keep it like that is all well but to restore the bug would be good. Not many 51's around anymore. To restore it..no..not with the story behind the car however I would have slammed it static instead of bags. I know the ride would be hard but then again it had a tough life too. Great car. VW aircool love forever

What is wrong with you? When you have any cool looking patina you DONT restore it. The only thing you can add the the exterior would be a clear layer of paint to secure the patina. By your comment I immediately know that you are a boring collector and someone that want to get every single penny when you sell something. Because of guys like you the prices on these old lovely machines increase so much. Cars aren’t there to make money. They are there to go on the road and be driven! And that on daily bases, no matter what weather or anything else.

I like some people restore to origional and thats great but the patina cars that show the history are part of the truth of it. Its an honest car. It would mean less to the owner restored.
