LIMERICK WIN AFTER 45 YEARS - MY JOURNEY FROM DUBAI!!

I have been to every All-Ireland final we have been in in my life (3) including coming home from France to see us lose in 2007.and I was there in 2013 on the pitch from Dubai. I wasn't going to let 8,000kms of distance stop me getting home to see us win for the first time in 45 years. And what's better, I got to experience a childhood dream with all of my family! An incredible few days that will go down in Limerick (and Kildimo Palasskenry) history! Luimneach abu!

Just teared up watching this eating my dinner I went up with my 6 yr old no tickets and got them at 3:00 it was a day I will never forget and to have my hero of a son with me made it one best ever thanks for bringing back that feeling n memories

I watched the whole thing in the local pub with my mam, dad and my sister. Before these final moments me mam was saying, ‘we have it! We’ll win,’. Then when the final moment occurred I was furious and thought she had jinxed the whole thing. My heart was beating so fast I thought I would have a heart attack. When Limerick won I stood up and cheered until I started bawling crying, my mam thought I was overwhelmed so she sat me down, I was hysterical with joy at this stage and even me dad was almost in tears. This was my first all-ireland I ever watched. I am 12 years old and this story, I will tell as a witness to my grandchildren.

The GAA wanted the draw so bad with the eight minutes extra time out of nowhere, of which ten were played. By the will of God they didn't get it! It would have been a scandalous travesty. Limerick were tired after the phenomenal performance they put in that day but the grit and nerves of steel shown by players like Mulcahy to pull them through was something else. Fair play to them, well deserved.

I bought my ticket home on faith alone. Then my sister won them in the St. Pat's GAA draw. Magical from start to finish Rian.

If you wanted tickets badly enough you could have got them. You need to annoy people to an extend. Always one person who can't go, or ends up with a spare. I asked over 200 contacts and strangers , spent over 2 hours a day for 2 weeks and got 11 tickets for various people. 2 came from friends of my first cousins up in Dublin who are Croke park residents for example, 2 from Clare and 1 from Kilkenny. Not one of the 11 are band wagoners, personally I have either played in or attended over a thousand Hurling matches, maybe even more so If I go looking people try to sort me out.

Im sure it was wonderful.....as a Tipp man i wont be happy until they put the final back into sept....its just not the same and Im sure kk people would agree with me ,and the new championship is a joke ...some teams play four weeks on the trot with the possbility of a provincial final and possibly extra time...eg Galway last year...they played nine games with one of them extra time and nothing to show for it...They were out on their feet and still came within a point of Limerick.

Limerick played eight games and beat Cork, Tipp and Kilkenny on the way.. Galway were in a position to beat both Kilkenny and Clare especially, the first days but did not do it. Limerick, with no player that had played in an All Ireland Senior Final before, beat a vastly more experienced Galway team and many pundits claimed the final result flattered Galway.
