Best spearline in the game are the Limitanei and the Abbassid spearline. Limitanei have the shield wall which makes them very resistant to archer fire, therefore they get a massive plus on survivability especially in Feudal Age Limitanei can be a massive headache for most civs. Abbassid spearmen have phalanx which increases their range so both front spearmen and the rank behind can engage the enemy.
