Just completed the first season. The White Lotus is certainly original and unique. But I grew to hate many of the characters so much that I could barely watch it. But I suppose that’s what makes a good story - when your characters evince such strong feelings.

Wait till you watch s2. There’ll be characters that you hate, but there will be many more moments of absolute joy watching them. Also, I think it’s far better than the first. It’s more of a mystery than a comedy. The characters are fully fleshed out.

It’s a bold move, from international perspective, to make a tv series where all minority characters are more or less bad or flawed. In American contexts this is quite understandable after Trump presidency and huge support he still enjoys. This show reflects quite well their sentiments about minorities. The racial boy and girl steal, the black woman tries to siphon money from a white lady in grieving, the gay man(anger) is perverted drug user… It will be interesting how the second season treats minorities. Both the second season of the Tv series and second season of Trump’s presidency (as the odds seems to be quite high he either wins the presidency again or takes it by coup of some sort).

Trump presidency increased the hate speech and violence against minorities. He has far right supporters and his supporters tried a coup and he continues his attacks against the democracy. If he takes the power again by legal or illegal means minorities are in great danger.

@@lukeywebo and at the second season gay men try to kill the old lady using Sicilian mafia and Italian hooker manages to siphon 50 K€ from a naive young guy’s father and using sexual and lesbian methods the other one manages to get hotel’s pianist fired and plant herself the new pianist. 2nd season didn’t had black people but Italians might be considered half-racial people and anyway the worst villains are gay.
