Hi Members! I hope you enjoy this gorgeous freeform pendant! Aegis! This is a fun and whimsical, free-form frame that gives you quite a bit of room to just 'enjoy it'... nothing symmetrical or difficult but a gorgeous unique result each time. This technique can be applied to any shape stone or even a multiple-stone pendant (up next). I use 16 gauge wire for the main frame because of it's strength even at dead soft. I show us how to shape and hammer the big wire into a sturdy frame that will give the stone(s) good beginning security... and then I show us how to attach and use additional decorative wires to further secure the stone and make design.
I go into details about how to make those cute flared spiral ends pointy and how to taper the wire.
I talk about the important things that make the stone stay in place and I show how to hand sand the hammered elements to make them lovely and refine the look.
This is a good back to basics for hammered and layered frames, shaping, adding wires, and sanding while still being whimsical and fun!
The base frame is 15 inches of 16g round soft copper wire.
The add-on wires are 12 inches of 18g round soft copper and 12 inches of 20g round soft copper.
You can sub with or mix with square wries too!
The stone is Oval 1.25long x .75 wide and about 3mm thick, Strawberry Quartz.
