I love your lessons.I started recording music way back when we cave people used a small pterodactyl to play our records that were made of stone (real 'rock' music).

And why not create a trigger signal with this eq tecnique that is OFF with the hole song ''like an aux'' but put the trigger signal to the sidechain input of the limiter?

Claudio Oderich what exactly was the concept?

Bollog Nyessy Hi!! Well, in my point of view, compressors in general, when pushed too hard tend to bring up the fundamental region of the source (more than it's harmonics and textures). Since a limiter is no diferent than a comp pushed at hardest, and it's applied to all elements, it's gonna probably overgain some region of frequencies. By reducing this precise region with a LinEq before it, you let the limiter work more even. Tell me if im completely wrong by thinking this way. Tnx for making me rethink about it.

well, you're completely right, but it just seemed like this video was just saying "reduce your low end and you'll get more headroom". seems like a very very basic concept to me.

Couldn't agree more. Indeed I'm a starter. it's just that doing it at mastering stage was new to me. I like to learn that type of moves instead of relying in brands or series of plugins, that's what i meant.

You guys should get @mixedbyblue on the show. He just got a Grammy nod for Seat At The Table. He also mixed the Hamilton Mixtape. Check him out . Would love to see an interview with him.

Oh man cool vid. I am a bit disappointed you didn`t try IRC4 in Ozones limiter. If you say that IRC 3is pretty good then IRC4 is another level. From what i know it works in Multiband manner so it would be cool to see the difference showcased by someone who actually knows what he is doing. Someone like you. The the video would be more complete. Instead of that you let us hang in the dark closing with "try a multiband limiter" when all it would take was a mouse click to show one... :-)

Thanks Dave! So cool! I notice the plug-ins you use cover important parts of your DAW's user-interface, often requiring you to re-locate them by dragging them to other parts of your screen, where they wind up covering up some other important element. This seems less than ideal to me. Have you considered other DAWs? I use Reason, a program that does not have this problem, and I just wanted to mention your videos have been an essential part of my development as a mixing engineer. The tips you give beautifully translate to different systems.

I don't get it. You're surprised that a wide band limiter makes mids and highs louder when you remove the low end? I mean...who doesn't know that?!
