Thanks for the FF perspective and explaining how you break it down. Questions: 1. Garmin FF? 2. If so which ducer? 3. Are you running dedicated power to the unit? Thank you kindly. Having trouble seeing the bait drop. Hoping to unlock the key. Appreciate you.

Hey aaron. Yes, this is a Garmin LVS34 and it has a dedicated lithium battery. It’s actually just my ice fishing shuttle brought onto the boat.

Realistically, if you catch a limit of walleye in a couple hours on an average local stocked walleye lake, you’re doing well. Edited videos don’t always do a good job of demonstrating that fact.
@bad_vaporizer6 ай бұрын
I wanted to ask you a question about drop shot. I used drop shot on a lake where there are gobies on structures. I have the live bait about 2 feet up off bottom and these gobies keep taking my bait. How do you avoid them stealing your nightcrawlers?
@NickLindner6 ай бұрын
That’s tough. I haven’t fished live bait on a dropshot in gobie lakes. My instant reaction would be to use leeches, minnows or plastics instead of crawlers.
@bad_vaporizer6 ай бұрын
@@NickLindner I'll give that a try. Thank you for your reply.
@Jay-bp9bh6 ай бұрын
Have you tried or thought about getting a separate mount for the transducer so you can spot lock/search for fish without moving the boat? 🥦
@NickLindner6 ай бұрын
That’s how I had it rigged up when I first started using FFS. Obviously it’s a viable option, but I prefer the trolling motor as a hands-free option and I don’t have any issues moving around and positioning like that.
@Jay-bp9bh6 ай бұрын
@@NickLindner I thought that might be your answer. Just wanted to get your take on it. I don't have it yet but it's in the plans and getting different options for set-up. I definitely see the benefit of hands free.

Love the format, and your comments, only thing to possibly improve is that the live scope image is dropped fairly frequently, if any way to fix this would be great.

At 42:49, is that for sure a walleye, or could it be a pike? The lack of reaction just males me wonder what it is
@NickLindner6 ай бұрын
For sure possible! Walleyes and pike can appear pretty similar generally pike are usually more aggressive, that can sometimes be a dead giveaway

Twice you touched on how stocked lake walleye differ from walleye factorys fish behavior. Both time you got distracted and didnt make your point. Curious on how you differ your approach
@NickLindner6 ай бұрын
The fish are more aggressive on natural walleye fisheries. I’ll try and talk more on that in a future video.
@tonybell92016 ай бұрын
I'm only 30 min into the vid but is there a slot limit where you are fishing?
@NickLindner6 ай бұрын
No, just normal Minnesota regulations, so 6 walleyes total, but only one of them can be over 20 inches.
@carlospittaluga92555 ай бұрын
I’m still watching and I’m glad to see you having a hard time catching a fish. I just started to use live target and I’m so frustrated seeing the fish and not getting them to bite. I thought it was me. I see them come to the bait and turn away. lol Most of these guys on KZbin only show when they catch fish. This is a great video, keep up the good work.
@NickLindner5 ай бұрын
It’s not just you! Walleyes are fickle beasts, even when you put baits right on their forehead.
@carlospittaluga92555 ай бұрын
I’m also in NE PA probably not as many walleyes as the Midwest. People here are more bass fisherman. I’ve caught my first 2 walleye last year using swim baits. One of them at night 28 inches.

This has been one of the more informative videos I’ve watched on catching fish with live scope. This structure sets up just like home lake and are seeing the ability to read the sonar better with tips from this. Thanks for posting this! Also, I would say perfect eater is 16-18” anything else should go back. Though you’re on a stock lake, still feels unsettling to see a 19 or 20” fish in heavy pressured small bodies of northern mn be taken.
@NickLindner6 ай бұрын
I don’t disagree on the harvest deal, Ben. If I didn’t have a shortish window of time to get a limit for a fish fry that evening, I probably would have tried to select for some more moderate sized fish. This lake is stocked with a lot of fish though, and tons of fish get pulled out every week. It’s doing alright there (for big fish too). Thanks for watching. I thought this would be a fun one, as most stocked walleye lakes in Minnesota kinda setup like this.

It’s not in my near future and have no interest, I was super excited about it at first but now everyone on the lakes stare at a screen, they run right up on you, seeing that there’s fish around you, I could have poked a guy in the eye with my rod tip last weekend he rolled by so close.
