A bilingual wedding, but everyone spoke the language of love and dance, with bride and groom and a few hundred guests turning the dance floor into an all-night ballroom.

As a Puerto Rican that left the island in 1982, I get emotional and elated when one of our sons,/grandsons and daughters/ grandaughter succeed in the mainland. I'm very impressed with Lin-Manuel's degree from Weslayan University, for Vanessa's degree from MIT, her achievement in the Pharmaceutical companies, for His Tony Awards for the Heights musical and the latest awards for Hamilton. But compadres what impressed me the most is that Puerto Rico's Caballero de la salsa, Gilberto Santa Rosa, was the main attraction at their wedding in 2010. Not everyone not even the richest people in Puerto Rico can say Gilberto Santa Rosa played at my son's and daughter's wedding. Lin-Manuel Thank you for bringing joy and hope to the Puerto Rican Diaspora with your recent awards and achievements for Hamilton, including your visit to the White House with President Obama. Tu eres un orgullo Boricua. We need this more than ever especially now when our island is going through a chaotic financial meltdown. Tu eres una luz de Esperanza y Alegria. I’m so pleased that Lin married an accomplished woman. He could have chosen from among countless women. He chose a woman who graduated with a degree from MIT, worked as a scientist for a major pharmaceutical company, went to law school, and worked for a high-powered national law firm. And how sweet is it that they went to high school together at the nation’s top “test in” high school? Yes, she is beautiful but no one will accuse her of being mere eye candy. They are a brilliant, handsome, and accomplished couple!
