Preach! Some people get discouraged when they see someone who knows more languages than them but never got to see their process. Also there is no secret. Good things are coning for you! Keep going girl❤

Wanting everything yesterday literally expands to pretty much every aspect of our lives: instant music, instant movies, super fast internet, next day delivery, click and collect, 5 minute meals...the list goes on. A lot of people are forgetting what hard work is.

It’s the journey that will free you and lead you to who you are, it’s judgement, egoism and the race for power that will make you a prisoner and stop you discovering new lands

Thank you for this video Lina! This topic is definitely one that needs to be talked more about in the language learning community, because it is both those who have had lots of experience learning languages and those who have just started who are influenced by ego, not feeling good enough, criticizing, etc (myself included!). Learning what we want is a very personal journey and the noise from social media can definitely negatively effect all of us. I have followed you for a while and you are one of the influencers I really admire, even more so after this vid!

Hi Lina. Thanks for further emphasising the truth and giving those that are learning languages some confidence. Learning a language is a marathon not a sprint. But most importantly is to not let other people’s judgement mar your love of learning a foreign language in the first instance. I especially agree with you that there’s the 10000 hrs behind the scene before achieving your goal. I speak French and I am forever learning new words/expressions etc but it took me quite awhile before I could speak French automatically and I still make many grammatical mistakes. In the end I realise that life is a journey and learning languages is a lifetime journey and don’t be a perfectionist ( I was very harsh on myself) but to enjoy speaking your target language. The objective is to communicate and have fun not a competition with others. Bonne continuation. Salut. 😍👍

Muchas gracias por el consejo. No es fácil aprender un idioma y luchar con el perfeccionismo. Siempre suelo pensar que no soy lo suficientemente buena y que no aprendo rápido, pero todos somos diferentes, el punto esta en no rendirnos. Thank you so much for sharing content that it's realistic and encouraging. I'll probably struggle with Turkish and hebrew forever but I am sure that I won't regret it.

Many times I searched videos about language learning struggles and one of yours popped up with the answer I needed. Thank you for making this honest video. You're not only a great teacher, but you also have a beautiful soul. I think you are right. "У нас есть вера". And that is our power.

Thanks for this Lina. As so often, you're saying what needs to be said in a very helpful way. The urge to compare is often so strong yet none of us can see the private struggles of the others. If we are comparing, it should be with our earlier selves. Let's see our lives as a voyage of growth and discovery and rejoice when we get to share a little or contribute towards the journeys of others.

I really needed this. I'm a 2nd year French major who's also studying Japanese on her own. Sometimes I'd see some of my classmates who are already at a C1 level speaking bloody fluent French,it can be very frustrating coz they make me feel really dumb coz my french is nowhere near perfect and it has been hard to com to terms with that. This video really broadened my mindset, thank you.

Your charm is irresistible!! You look energetic. You have a great smile. I love you!! I have a frustrating experience. Not knowing where to begin or hitting a plateau can feel demoralizing and make it hard to hit the books and study like you know you should…Having friends from other cultures makes me more creative. In fresh ways about space and how people create their own world and environment. It is best way to connect between creative thinking and cross-cultural relationships

I'm learning Italian because I love opera. I'm not planning on being an opera singer, I just love opera. I started learning Italian a year and a half ago and made friends with lots of native Italians. I'm even taking a shot at writing my own opera. I'm having one of my Italians write the libretto.

I struggle with a 2 or 3 steps forward. one step back scenario in my language learning, but I hear that is normal. I am also a musician, which I think helps me accept that mistakes and corrections, because it is also inherent in music. I also find that the people who are the most critical of la gauge mistakes are those who are monolingual. So what do they know, really? ;) I enjoy the process and will let no one steal my pleasure.
