I need help picking the right machine. I've had some experience back in the '70s with an AC box. This will just be a hobby/repair machine. My choices have come down to: ESAB Rebel EMP215ic, Everlast PowerMTS 211si, and a Miller Multimatic 215. My current thoughts are towards the Everlast. I'm 'reviewed' out. Appreciate some help. Thanks
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 5 жыл бұрын
Steve Osterday 1st of all out of your choice none of the machines is made here in the us anymore. The esab and the everlast are both made in china. Which that is not necessarily bad.... one thing you have to understand - you always buy the good with the bad ! There is no such thing as the perfect machine. Personally i have had problems with miller and esab machines right around the 3 year mark .... and twice i heard :” go get lost!” That aside i believe that it is a HUGE benefit if you can try a machine BEFORE you permanently own it. If you can test weld a machine before buying it or before you permanently own it - that is a BIG PLUS THAT WILL TELL YOU MORE THAN ANY REVIEW ONLINE! Now personally i have welded with all 3 machines that you mentioned for about 20-30 min i am NOT an expert on any of those machines by no means Here is my personal observation: The mig arc on the miller and esab is probably a little smoother - the stick arc on the esab and everlast is pretty good. The dc tig - everlast has high frequency start. Now i dont know how any of those will hold up in the long run. Also i never had an encounter with everlast customer service ever - not a good one not a bad one - just none at all. I know that they advertise some sort of money back guarantee - i dont know anything about it.... CHECK INTO THE DETAILS It comes fully equipped The price is really competitive for a multi process machine .... Like i said - the mig feature works ok - nothing that i personally was super impressed with BUT also for sure not garbage either ..... “Arc quality” and “arc dynamic” YOU have to experience ! No spec sheet in the world will tell you that .... YOU may like or love the way it welds ... Try before you buy! Good luck !

@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds Жыл бұрын
the Lincoln handy mig to my knowledge is made for the "big box stores" its not really "real" Lincoln electric commercial grade .... I dont know nothing about it ... so I am not sure I can give you some real advice .... ??? Let me tell you my brothers favorite thing, he says: "the one who buys cheap is the guy who buys twice" ... also you heard : "you get what you paid for" ..... not scything that these statements are always 100% true .... but there is a true core to it .... I understand limited use, or financial constraints and and and .... PERSONALLY me, myself, I use the HTP Pro Pulse 220 MTS multiple times per week for a variety of different jobs ... and I LOVE it ... it s Premium machine that really mades me and others "Weld like a pro" and it is a joy to use it ! you wont be fighting the machine when you are doing what you are doing ....

Go for it - the head to head comparison. My first thoughts are to forget about the Vulcan OmniPro line just because it may be just another piece of HF Chinese-crap that is based upon low price over long term value, but ChuckE2009 just did a review of it (as a part of his Patreon supporters tool giveaway feature) and he rated it as "it works and is adequate" overall. He felt the auto programming sucked and the MIG handle was deficient as far as life expectancy but it did work quite well. A machine to machine to machine comparison would be nice to see for those us us who comparison shop for price & needs vs price. Whoops, forgot to mention that ChuckE tested the OmniPro on 220V, didn't do anything with the 110v part of it - and that is what your specific need for it was.
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 6 жыл бұрын
don't worry - I tested on 110 volt ... with a meter .... and it is MINDBLOWING. I am editing the video right now .... give me a few more hours and than I have to upload it still ... that will take for ever ... but I can tell you I ran it on 110 (all of them) and I checked output on the welding gun and input amp draw .... and I can tell you arc quality ... and settings ... and the results are different than what I expected .... especially after seeing chuck's video this morning where he really had the "nerve" to say that the Vulcan can be a good welder ... only good if you want to burn your money .... can use those hundred dollar bills in the wood stove for kindling I guess ...LOL
@MrEd-fu3dq
@MrEd-fu3dq 6 жыл бұрын
LOL, as you know, you gotta take ChuckE with a grain of salt. Kinda hyper at times and very much a "showman" on KZbin (which works for him); he's very passionate about welding and the tools that he uses. The thing that really bugs me at times is him not RTFM. Product "manuals" are used as kindling to get his wood burning stove going. He is too cheap (that's good) to use dollar bills, much less 100's as kindling. And I love the way he recycles metal from job sites where whatever he picks up is looked on a 'garbage' and having no value. Some of the best stuff that I have built or fixed over the years has come from metal recycle guys guys who your the various neighborhoods the day and night before trash pickup. Years ago I had couple guys who knew what I wanted and would place that stuff so that it was accessible on their truck when they swung by my auto repair shop (sold it like 20 years ago as part of an early retirement / change of career for less stress). Usable pieces of scrap metal and stuff like industrial carts that might need to be straighten or patched up , or maybe a new set of wheels (make a usable one from two or three damaged ones); steel shelving that had some life left that needed a few repairs (mix and match the good parts, along with a little paint); window fan that was missing the grills and needed a new switch - little bit of wire screening and a toggle switch (and new, longer cord and plug) and I had a good fan for air flow thru the condenser & radiator when doing automotive A/C work (no point in beating up a new one that would have plastic screens and get broken too easily in a shop - still it using after 40 years, now using it in my 1 1/2 car home garage workshop for air circulation up in the rafters in the cold weather to keep my lower body warmer) . Most of the time my mechanics thought I was wasting my time ("a new one would be only so much"), but I reminded them that I paid the bills and with what I saved by "recycling junk" I was able to pay them more with what I saved after not buying new stuff all the time. Geez, my business was fixing broken or neglected stuff. Plus it helped me build my skill set of fabrication and welding. You seem to be a lot more laid back. BTW, liked seeing you on Jimbo's Garage when Jim was "touring" the midwest area around Chicago. I live like 4 blocks from the city limits, so we're like neigbors.

Wait, they ship the Vulcan 220 with an mb15 torch?
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 6 жыл бұрын
absolutely ! they have not read the ratings on the MB15 torch ... and typically the binzel clone guns have even a lower rating .... and the rating on 75/25 gas is less than on straight co2 anyways ... so if the dusty cycle sort of holds up - than the gun will fry sooner or later ... LOL and than its not even an euro back end - so it will be pretty difficult to get a more heavy duty replacement ,,,,,

james west thank you for your service ! My concern with the harbor freight machine is not as much how long it is going to last - but more performance. And i dont mean the guy who buys horsepower ( amps and duty cycle) bur more so arc quality and arc dynamic, things that no spec sheet records or documents. The mig arc on this machine is not awful ( the stick arc is awful) but it is a long way away from being good no matter what adjustments you make wire speed, voltage, induction ... Its just not running right. If you want EXCELLENT arc dynamic and a wide range of arc voltage that allows you to run spray arc and cored wires .... look at spending an additional $200 (1099 instead of 899) and buy this machine www.usaweld.com/HTP-MIG-200i-p/60200i.htm Made in italy, lacquer coated boards, IP23 ( if you want to work outdoors with the machine) and the arc dynamic and build quality absolutely superior !!!!! And if you find a Lincoln 210mp somewhere for 1249 .... i think that is worth the extra money also over the harbor freight trying to copy the Lincoln .... the are on the lincoln is good or great in mig and stick .... the levels of power it draws out of the wall are a lot less than the harbor freight machine is. Go look at my channel - i made the comparison video 1 hour long, measuring amp draws etc ..... I mean if you want to buy one - you dont need my blessings. A lot of people have those, some like those machines ... if you ever welded with a really good mig machine it is sooo hard to go back to something like this .... Personally the $200 more for the htp is a small price for getting a lot better machine. That may be just me - but you asked me so i tell you.

I believe the Everlast will surprise. Easily out performs the other 2 hands down. Better package value, better warranty, and best performance! Prove me correct Zila or better yet try to prove wrong.

see the results in the latest video - the ever last did surprise me (positive) in power draw from the wall ... it was lower than anticipated ... arc quality was good - i am not sure that it was better than the lincoln ... the stick arc maybe - the mig arc was good - but in my opinion the lincoln was better mig welding ... so over all not a bad machine - so MUCH better than the HF piece ..... ! but than again the ever last and lincoln are about the same money too ... take it for what it is .... from my point of view - they are "comparable machines" in a " hobbyist" market segment ... between the green and the red - none of them "really sticks out" .... the reason why i chose lincoln over the everlast lincoln had a better mig arc, less power draw on 110 volt (the better inverter with pfc ) and is smaller and lighter and made in mexico instead of chine ... but i admit - there is NOT a world of difference between them .... hey - its my video - so in get to pick who in my mind is better ... you make a video - you can pick a different machine ... LOL

I Am i wont turn them on / they would all be there if i’d turn them on ..... that video in particular brings all the haters out of the woods and everyone who didn’t watch more than 3 or 4 minutes feels like they can crap all over the video ....! No thanks - i am good .... i had too much “clean up” to do on that video ..,, Normally i would agree that there is often more to learn from the comments than from the video itself ..... in THIS case - it is different ..,, For all guys that want to learn something - i have comments turned on on 99.9% of my videos .... But i really dont need some people coming over here and just piss all over my hard work .... You might or might not agree with that or like this answer .... but oh well - my time is valuable and i dont want to clean up a bunch of bull shit comments ....

grumpybill 25lbs ..... i am not that strong .... if i swing a 10lbs hammer for a few really heavy hits - that is about all i can/want to do .... But depends on how the testing turns out .... that hammer might be s good solution

Give the Lincoln more credit than what you did lol I have this machine along with various millers and I love my Lincoln!!! Damn good weld on 110 and awesome on 220 .... now depending on who’s running them and if they can weld may vary on opinion but the cheap harbor freight Vulcan wouldn’t win my bet at all.

I don't know for sure - you might be right. I know that most fonius and all HTP machines are made in europe .... the boards are actually made there, soldered there, lacquer coated there ... IP23 is all i have to say (vs IP21 on the machines in this test) i mean look it up ! dont take my word for it .... IT IS SAD THAT IS IT SOOO HARD TO BUY QUALITY STUFF HERE IN THE USA .... !

The MP 210 won't run 6010 and you won't find it in the manual
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 6 жыл бұрын
half bridge inverters very rarely run 6010 at least not well... you really need arc dynamic for 6010's ... that you typically need a full bridge inverter for ..... I don't care what a manufacture writes in his manual .... I have tried numerous times to weld 6010's with half bridge inverters - they typically just don't do it ... you have to hold a super tight arc - you don't have enough arc dynamic to really run them, - will they somewhat burn a rod - SURE ... would I want to weld with that? something critical ? hell no - it is not really comfortable or confidence assuring either .....

which one ? the multimatic 200 or the master 200 or 210 (now)?
@ZILAwelds
@ZILAwelds 6 жыл бұрын
its not the multimatic 200 ..... although that is almost 2000 bucks without accessories (big torch, foot pedal and spool gun not included at that price ) it still can't so 6010 ..... mow the maxstar 161s claims to be able to weld 6010 sticks - BUT I have not welded with it myself - I cant tell you if it works good or not - neither did I get a chance to look at one closely and see if it has a full or half bridge inverter in it.... not the maxstar 200 and now the new 210 both of those I believe are full bridge inverters and at 2000 bucks (or more) for a stick welder they better be able to run 6010 ..... now hands down - personally I prefer the Lincoln vantage 400 for that (problem is it was 15000 when they were still selling it in the USA ....) or some old Lincoln sa200 those are a little bit of a pain to dial in because you dial in voltage and amperage independent of each other .... but that arc quality is pretty good too (its a pure dc generator) .... so as far as inverters go the vantage 400 or the Stel Max dp201C. or the HTP Inverarc 200 TLP ..... those 2 are identical and they are sooooooo close to the vantage 400 - it is unbelievable how good they are !!!!!! the 6010 arc quality is really convincing ..... if you do a lot of 6010 - try one out - if you happen to be in the Chicago are the next 4 days - try one out at Fabtech !!! http has a booth there and they have the stick welder there too !
