Lincoln C6 Trans - Shift Kit & Fixing Leaks Part 1

That transmission definitely should have a new rebuild kit put in it and whatever bushings are worn replaced. It looks like it has gotten hot by the looks of the discoloration on the inside by the intermediate servo not to mention the selective thrust washer came apart. I just did the C6 in my truck when I put a new engine in it, trans still worked but had 253,000 miles on it. The seals were getting pretty hard and when it was warm I'd sometimes get this slack like thud bang feeling and noise when I stepped on the gas to take off from a stop, pretty sure it was the forward clutch bleeding off at idle then fully reapplying when throttle was applied. Shifts so much nicer now after the rebuild, also put the low drag kit in it. I bet the governor is a bit sticky on yours as well, mine was.

Mine was working perfectly. It has 72,000 miles on it.

@@mjmcomputers Mine worked fine too but it wasn't going to last much longer. The seals were all pretty hard.
