Not according to Ben Shapiro and Lauren Boebert. Something about that assertion hinging on a letter in 1804 rather than the document itself or the user guide that are the Federalist Papers. Does anyone think Boebert could name an author of the Federalist Papers? Even over on POTUS yesterday, they were indulging in special pleading over the meaning of the word "establish," in trying to defend Louisiana's recent move to post the Ten Commandments in all public school classrooms. You know, the Ten Commandments, eight of which Trump has broken, nine if you count his trying to get a dementia-addled Fred to sign over the entire estate to him. Ten if you count the defunding of pandemic preparedness to avenge a woman scientist who said it wasn't funded enough, or the beating the death of a cop by J6ers who thought they were "fighting like hell to keep from losing their democracy," or never calling in the National Guard in hopes that Pelosi or Pence would be killed--which the Proud Boys said under oath was their aim--you know, the Proud Boys, who phone records showed were in touch with Roger Stone and Don Jr. in the hours before and after the riot, who built up a cache of ARs in a nearby hotel to be radioed in for when Trump gave the signal. Although the Constitution mentions there is to be no religious test for holding office, I would to have seen the debaters given a portion of the Sermon on the Mount to read out loud (to Trump the portion about infidelity) and give their thoughts. It might be eye-opening to some of Trump's followers which recognized it as the Sermon on the Mount first.

​@@guinseyHe definitely helped identify where laws were weak due to loopholes and lack of enforcement mechanisms that need to be strengthened and given strong teeth. He's also identified things that were merely norms everyone took for granted that didn't have to be upheld by corrupt people when it suited them. Those need to be written into strong laws that can be enforced and have penalties to deter people from breaking them. I have no confidence either reform will happen in the current hyper partisan atmosphere unless Democrats have such a strong majority in both chambers of Congress that Republicans can't throw any obstacles into their path.

I have to take major exception to something Rick Wilson said. As a person admittedly of "the left" I've never viewed or ever expressed support for the Soviet Union as a "worker's paradise" and I'm willing to bet few of my ilk have, certainly post-Stalin (which was well before my time). I always saw that system as an ultimate betrayal of economic justice. Remember for instance it was George Orwell, a socialist, who created the ultimate and deepest classic description of Soviet-style totalitarianism. Rick likes to state he was a recent, pre-Trump Republican operative. That puts him in league with decades of anti-union, supply-side/ trickle down-suck up economic policy- which has laid waste to the American working class and planted the seeds for Trump supporters' economic resentment. Also it was his crowd that cynically enlisted the support of the Falwell/Pat Robertson evangelical political movement- laying the foundation for the Christian Nationalist movement we dread today. I won't even get into "The Southern Strategy", Willie Horton, or Reagan's racist asides about "young bucks" eating food stamp purchased T-bone steaks, etc. etc. etc. To quote John Fogarty- "before you 'cuse me, take a look at yourself".

Wholeheartedly agree. The far right is very afraid of the younger generations. My 20 something granddaughters do not see color and have a very deep sense of economic injustice. Love their generation, but as it stands, we are failing them.
