Here's a simple piano arrangement I made of the first movement of Percy Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy, one of the greatest band/orchestra suites of all time.
Like all the movements of this piece, this one is based on an English folk song catalogued by Grainger (or a colleague) in 1905-1906. The original lyrics to this tune are below:
1.
'Twas on a Monday morning, before the break of day.
Our ship she weighed her anchor boys, all for to sail away.
She went up to old Lisbon lads, for Lisbon we were bound,
for Lisbon's got some gardens there with pretty young girls all 'round.
2.
It's of a tender young man, who's in his blooming youth,
He went to his own lover's house, in bitter sighs and tears.
He went unto his own love's house to let her understand
That he was bound to leave his love unto some distant land
3.
"O William, dearest William, those words will break my heart!
Let you and I get married love, before that we do part.
For it's six long months you've courted me, I've been in love with you
So stay at home dear William, be kind and marry me."
4.
"Oh no my dearest Polly, that never can be so!
---------------------------------------------------- (forgotten lyric)
For the Queen she is in want of men, and I for one must go.
And for my very life my love, I dare not answer no."

The arrangement dates back several years, probably to when I was in late high school or early college. Sorry it's not VG music, but hope you enjoy nonetheless!
