Such a beautiful sad song full of emotion, full of pain and emptiness. I could think of no one better to sing this than Linda Eder who brings so much passion into each and every note.

This song exemplifies the utter waste and futility of all wars. There were no regular dog tags during the Civil War, but someone knew his name, loved him and missed him. As always, this is a beautiful interpretation by Linda Eder.

I can't get a thing done today but listen to every song of hers I can find on here. This is another 'best' in my opinion. I saw her in concert for the first time last night and I've loved her voice since I first found her music 5 years ago.

Flawless...absolutely flawless. I love to listen to how she interprets a song. I saw her in Jekyll & Hyde before it went to B'way. Then, "Someone Like You" was staged with her singing the entire song sitting in a chair in the doctors parlor. There must have been 700-800 people in the audience, & when she finished the last note, you could count to three before you heard a sound out of the crowd, and then they erupted. You were so caught up in the perf., you almost forgot to breathe. Unbelievable!

When I purchased The Civil War - The Nashville Sessions I really didn't expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. Then came this track. Six years later, it still moves me whenever it comes up, What a powerful story she tells in just three and a half minutes. "God, he was so young like a song half sung" and "All the life he'll miss, girls he'll never kiss Things he'll never try Unaware that I never knew his name,"

one my favorites, Thanks for posting it. Its a beautiful song, sung beautifully by Linda Eder. Those who love this will want to check out WHATS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE from Camille Claudel, now available on the CD Now and also the single can be found on line too. So glad Linda Eder and Frank Wildhorn have found a way to work together again. Amen.

soooo beautiful, I have this on cd. Originally from Frank Wildhornes epic broadway musical Civil War. Linda is playing the role of the nurse here who an enemy soldier has died in her arms.

God, I wish she and Frank were together again. The music they made together was magical.

I love that the beginning notes of this song are almost identical to Looking Through the Eyes of Love, which Linda also sings beautifully! She's my idol. Always has been, always will be.
