I fell in love with Linda Ronstadt as a young teen before I ever saw her, but once I saw her I fell completely and totally for her. In all my years I still have not loved another singer anywhere near as much as I have enjoyed Linda's music. No woman can come close to Linda. Funny...I remember being maybe 13 and thinking that when I grow up I'm gonna marry her. LoL. Well, we're both old now and I didn't marry her but I'm still in love with her voice! She's still simply the best, timeless, ageless voice out there and I still listen to her music regularly. Guess I'm hooked.🤠❤️❤️❤️

@alanFconrad How could a man not. I still have all my records. And though I haven't looked at the cover in a while. The album with her on roller skates those legs. Her natural beauty. Even in recent interviews in her 70s. She still has that girlish face she's always had. She's a beautiful person inside and out. Imagine we may never have the Eagles if not for her. Jackson Brown, Andrew Gold, etc. Just the music of all those talented people. She not only was talented but she recognized it as well. ❤️☮️✌️📻🎶🎸🎹☮️

In 2013 Linda was presented with a National Medal of The Arts at the White House for her " one of a kind " voice. Then in 2014 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by her good friend Glenn Frey who made it a point to give her credit for helping The Eagles to launch their own legendary career after being her back up band. got the chance to see LR probably 25 times in the 70's. Among the most beautiful human beings I've ever seen inside and outside. She is a very kind person, very bright and the loyalty all of her team had to her over the years is remarkable in a very difficult business. I think is not comparable to anyone. She stands alone as an artist as a benefactor to so many artists, as a peer and as a phenomena. Listening to this.... I'm transported to a time when I was much younger and music was something that you listened to, often eyes closed, and focused on the artist. Times change, now we listen as much with our eyes as ears... I sure miss when we just wore jeans, boots and the cleanest shirt you could find on the bus. Thank you universe for giving us this music!

My coworkers and I shot this on 1/2" Sony open-reel videotape, mono soundtrack; some of these shows had WNEW-FM's David Vanderhayden mixing an FM version live.... but many of these shows had only a PA mix combined with a house mic (by me) on a good old Shure mixer (with a dbx 160!). We were often lucky because the Capitol/Passaic had a great natural sound, so the front-of-house guy could show off his mixing chops. (And if we were lucky the band had some taste, as Linda's did, and didn't turn it up to 11.) For the video geeks out there- these were Sony industrial cameras. Somewhere around 6:40 into the show, the sound gets much better than it was during the first minutes of the show. Not sure why, 41 years later, but I was lucky to get what I got. Also, sorry about the video sync blowing up, but we had truly cheap cables with fans pouring drinks on them, and a video "switcher" lower quality than today's surveillance systems. OK, enough about us--- Linda was great back then, we could tell that she really cared about the music, and Waddy Wachtel and the others on the tour were no slouches either. Linda would apologize to some lowly tech like me if she was blocking the stairwell; she was truly a decent person. And I never heard a better singer at the Capitol; certainly Pat Benatar was equally good, but not better. And, yeah, no Autotune required.

Great concert Thom and well done videoing it on the mighty Sony machine. Good camera work. Do you know how much of the video sync loss is printed in, tape damage, or a machine issue when digitised? Some things could be improved without much effort though, like black levels in the video and audio level matching pre and post 6:40. To my ears the sound doesn't really get better after 6:40, it just gets louder, plus the audio azimuth goes awry. Quite bad when summed to mono but there are losses in the highs even as is. These things could be addressed with a retransfer. I only have access to EIAJ machines with 5" reels. Are these 7" reels?

una mckillen It was a time when the music mattered. I can think of only a couple of mainstream artists in recent years who have returned to that kind of genuineness...Adele & Ed Sheerhan. My daughter introduced me to the music of a young guy named Shawn Mendes & I recently discovered an indie artist named Shannon LaBrie. They're both worth checking out. Of course, there will never be another one like Linda. IMO the greatest female voice of all time.

First time I've seen this. 2019 Nov. I knew Linda could play guitar. Good to see in two different videos. The band the sound. Most of All... The Voice of Linda Ronstadt never quits, never falters on stage. And if you've heard her talk on any subject she's always got something worth saying.

Thank you so much for posting this video! I was a HUGE Linda Ronstadt fan and probably saw her in concert about ten different times when she performed in L.A. through the years. This video brought back the magic of those concerts and was a wonderful trip down memory lane. And, thank you Linda, for sharing the precious gift of your voice and your music with the world!

Lots of great singers back then and lots of great singers today. I think Ronstadt was probably the best. Seems like there wasn't anything she couldn't do flawlessly.

Not PROBABLY the best; THE BEST!

She just walks up to the microphone and sings flawlessly, effortlessly. Who does that anymore? gawd.

Her music is superb. Her voice once inside of you never really leaves. This is a treasure of a recording, not quite the superstar she would become and sadness seems to envelope here, a rare and remarkable RONSTADT

I was lucky enough to see Linda live 2 or 3 times in the 80's - and she never disappointed. one of the top ten best female vocalists of our generation - and her band was always worlld class. Only recently have people realized the talent of her players - especially Andrew Gold (RIP) who played lead guitar and vocals on this tour.

In a vocal universe all her own. Thank you for this performance preservation, even the grainy visuals(which somehow set a mood) don't alter a once in a lifetime authentic powerful and heartbreaking voice.

Critics and the public seemed so amazed later in her career when she displayed such fluency in such diverse styles of popular music and even operetta, but the roots of that diversity are here for all to hear.
