First I had heard of her. Well the very next evening a friend and I went to see a Crosby and Nash concert. Well they trotted out Miss Linda Ronstadt as the warmup act. She wasn't on the ticket or listed on the billing. We were in the 13th row and about fainted. I don't know what songs she sang but of course they were great and she was so fricking hot.

I think it was 1967 and I was 14 when I heard "Different Drum" by The Stone Ponies on the radio. This VOICE -- who? -- was so different from other rock voices -- what I know now is it's Linda Ronstadt's control and the continuous breath support that give her such a smooth, powerful sound. But there's more -- from that base that she can go in all sorts of expressive directions. Here Linda rocks more than I've heard elsewhere: cutting the note, even growling, but never sounding harsh or out of tune. The combination of her gift, hard work, brilliant mind, guts ... a true phenomenon. Pop divas have specialized voices that can do amazing things in certain songs; Linda Ronstadt's is the voice that a huge variety of songs gravitated to because as long as she could sing -- who else was there!

Let's not slight Stevie. She not only has an amazing voice, she did ALL her own songwriting and about half of Fleetwood Mac's. Love Linda, but give Stevie her due.

I would say Stevie nicks is also on a different class by herself as well. Her songwriting and creativity plus that voice of hers was something else. She gave us classics. Also her performances with fleetwood mac always were so good

Stevie Nicks? Really? Christine McVie was the best singer in that dreadful version of Fleetwood Mac. Being a huge Peter Green fan I can't stand them. Nicks is not fit to lick Linda Ronstadt's boots.

The greatest female lead singer ever to rock the world. Demure and shy and a bundle of energy. But always quick with that beauty queen smile. She could stop you in your tracks with her looks and make you want to cry, sing and dance with her voice. Certainly was blessed to have witnessed such a great talent and wonderful human being's entire career.

OMG- Pure raw dynamite in a 5 foot package!! Linda crushed all the other voices in music and could cover any genre with ease. I saw her in concert in '83 and she wowed the crowd for 2 hours - perfect pitch, strong delivery and stunning beauty. The 77 "thumbs down" must be Bieber fans.

As a 17yo kid in '75 - our Ozzie TV mag had pull out posters. The two on my uni flat wall - were Linda and ONJ! I still loved ONJ (even with Grease) - but Linda is totally peerless! She could sing rock, ballads, pop, country ... etc! If I ever want to show my friends the magic of the woman - just play Tumblin Dice live - extraordinary!🤩
