Linda was a great lady, never trashed Elvis although she told the truth as she saw it. It was always with love and kindness. She continually said he was the love of her life and he was so good to her family. I agree with what you said about Linda. She was a great fit for Elvis in many ways, is genuinely a good person and they had a mutual love for each other. I think in addition to Linda being very afraid of Elvis dying on her watch, she also wanted marriage and a family and she realized that she was not going to get that with Elvis, at least at that stage in his life. I read Linda’s book and got the impression that it was an incredibly difficult decision for her. Given she was so young, she was incredibly wise and mature for her age. 😢

Overall, I used to be a fan of Linda, but the more I research her the less I like her. She spent a ton of money. She would spend $75K ($475k today) in a weekend. But he was very happy with her and understood by her, and he told her brother Sam that Linda saved him from the stress of Priscilla’s divorce demands and the pain of Lisa not living in Graceland and moving away, Linda helped him through all that. I like Linda. Linda gave him the love and understanding and care he needed…. For a while. But as Vernon stated, Elvis felt Linda was smothering him. Choking him. She was jealous and used poetic words to make him feel guilty for her hurt when he started seeing others I.e. Sheila then Ginger. Elvis once told Linda that she really knew how to twist the knife into him with her guilting words. He recovered and kept looking, Sheila Ryan, Mindy Miller. Ginger. I think Ginger was winning his heart big time and he told Vernon he finally found in Ginger the love he was searching for. Told Billy the same. Again, I like Linda, and I do a lot. She has 2 outstanding sons. She would have given Elvis a beautiful family with Lisa as part of it. I believe she loved Elvis much more than Priscilla ever did but she broke the cardinal rule and severed her bond with Elvis when she started seeing in secret Elvis’ 2nd keyboardist David Briggs on tour, then when Elvis found out and he was done. I think Linda really truly deeply loved Elvis more than most girlfriends and certainly more than Priscilla did. Linda got dumped by Elvis the minute he said his airplane was waiting for her to take her back to her parents. Linda moving out of Graceland wasn't really her choice. She was cornered to do so. Since 1960 when he first met Priscilla Beaulieu, she was basically in his life someway somehow until the 1973 divorce even till his passing (lien on Graceland) I just cant imagine the constant undermining Elvis had to deal with PB. Billy Stanley and Ricky Stanley wrote wonderful books about Elvis as did Linda. Billy and Ricky knew him the longest they worked with Elvis and lived with him, their view of Elvis is one I respect. Ricky wrote a few books about Elvis my favorite is Caught in a trap, a truthful loving book about a real man, they knew about Elvis’s drug use they were scared but they stayed with him until the end. Linda loved Elvis she still does. Lisa called Linda from Graceland on the day Elvis passed. Linda won awards for her writing. Priscilla raised Lisa in a cult that’s a real problem in her family, Priscilla was cold and calculating and in my view not very intelligent anyone who would think L. Ron Hubbard is a voice of reason and one to be followed is a fool, she wasn’t what Elvis needed. Linda is a better person all the way around.
