John's home interior looks very much like an English cottage. Most cottages in English villages look very similar except with an inglenook fireplace and a thatched roof! So cosy!

Linda,as you might know,I only comment as I view your videos, resulting in multiple comments. Your dear friend John,he touches on one of the most important aspects of the Christmas tree. It is the little handmade ornaments,or just the ones that are from childhood, the ones that bring back the childhood anticipation of the arrival of Santa Claus!❤️ And also, good heavens,John’s front door is amazing, like something out of lord of the rings, wow!!!!

I like John's Christmas additions to the already existing decor. That is the way I decorate for Christmas, too! I have a couple of topper angels around, a bell wreath in "rusted" metal that ended up staying in my kitchen all year-round! I have a 20-yr-old fake tree that is done in "all the things I like" and have collected over the years. I have 2 huge holly trees that I use greenery from for a huge windowsill, and have to replace once during the season. I put up a layered garland under the large stone mantel, of which some cards are clipped on. I do love the ideas for special touches here at John's house! It's not Christmas now, but I will watch this again next December! LOVE your skirt, Linda! What a find!

I have watched four times! I love his style, what he collects, how he gardens etc. John’s grandmother surely had exquisite taste and style. Those angels and ornaments make me swoon. I wish John would develop a KZbin channel. Thank you Linda for your vlogs. I have learned so much about gardening and thrifting. Merry Christmas.

Beautiful home and Christmas decor! I remove a lot, wipe things down and put up Christmas decorations every year. I take a picture each year of my home Christmas decor. Though I may not decorate the same every year, it reminds me where I put things that year. I don't take photos of my things to put back, because so far, at almost 71, I remember. ;) LOVE his memorable decorations like the bowl of things his grandmother made. So gorgeous and meaningful. love, hugs, prayers.

Enjoyed another tour of John's home. The decor is just so impeccably placed in just the right spots. I too tried to tone down my decorating this year. I know you will be pleased that when I finished my tree and did not want to go back into all my boxes trying to find my tree skirt, I improvised with one of the Kantha quilts I purchased after hearing about them on John's last house tour. It is an apple green with red and mauve florals and looks so festive under the tree! Thank you, Linda, for continuing to inspire us to think outside of the box! And, of course, a big shout out to John and his beautiful house as well as Stewart who brings it all to life on you tube!

My grandmother had lots of those jeweled Christmas balls and one very large hanging ball that she hung in the front foyer. It had a ball under it that you pulled down and a Christmas song played. Unfortunately, l think that my mother threw them all out when she was cleaning out my grandmother’s house in 1978. My favorite part of the tour was the bedroom , the pottery bowl that the ornaments are in is beautiful. My favorite line was when Linda said “ oh look that one is especially sparkly “ pretending that an engagement ring was hanging off the ornament. So very cute. 🥰

Lovely home. John's tree was a reminder to KEEP and display older ornaments from childhood and from my family. I've gone with a more themed approach to decorating my tree and have left those in storage bins in recent years. After watching this, I thought, what a shame, I'm leaving out the most meaningful part! Answer to question of the day: I definitely add in Christmas elements within existing decor.

Always carry a beautiful handkerchief, so you will have it handy when start to you salivate. I remember driving by Mrs Jackson’s in Utica Square. I can just imagine how magical this home looks at night. Just so cozy and warm. As for your question ... I have an iron cookbook stand on my kitchen counter with my regular cookbooks all year. So I just change them to my Southern Living cookbooks as the covers are so festive. I have an old antique scale with a brass bowl part.... just replace the everyday fruit in it with pomegranates and clove studded oranges. And on my fridge I have an oversize basket on top all year, and just add brown paper wrapped boxes to look like gifts, add bakery red twine and a sprig of greens. Adds just enough Christmas! Thank you John for letting us in. It was such a treat into your world.

When I saw you were doing a bungalow tour I immediately thought I hoped it was his house. I decorate my tree like he does with collected ornaments over many years. I look every year for three new ones that are unique to buy. I also incorporate my Christmas decor into existing decor but I didn’t always use to take everything off my fireplace mantel and reload with Christmas but got so tired of boxing it up and removing it for a month or so, so now I incorporate my finds into my year-round decor so much enjoyable decorating without the stress of putting everything away. My dining table same way use to remove it all now I keep my mercury glass candle sticks and incorporate Xmas around them with my Christmas table runner and placemats. I love looking for unique decorations. I gave away a lot and kept what I really love to simplify my decorating instead of putting out every decoration I owned. I wish I could visit him and his house lol. Just love his style.

Oh, how I loved this video. Thank you Linda for introducing us to John - loving his style and I always end up wanting more content from him. Possibly interested in writing a book on your technique? I'm ready to pre-order. I just put out my late Mother's homemade ornaments from the 60's - they are just like the one that John picked out as his favorite just in different colors. This year I incorporated them on a light airy/fluffed pale gold tulle that surrounds the manger with my parents figurines. It feels so special. John's grandmother had great style and good sense to keep her specials and pass them down. Good souls.
