The picture on the bench , the bench itself was fenced off for many years. But you can have your picture with your self on it.

Nice video Mal I just picked up the first 2 albums fairly cheap yesterday on your recommendation! Gave them a clean (using your method 😂) and a spin and really enjoyed them. The chap also had Roll on Ruby, but I left that one as I hadn’t heard of it - sounds like the right decision. Anyway thanks for the heads up take care.

Cheers Brian - I'd agree with you late 70s onwards, when I did enjoy them live a few times-but I do love their first 3 studio albums

I really enjoyed your review of those albums. I discovered Lindisfarne as a teenager in the late seventies by buying a "cut-out" album for 50 cents called Roll On Ruby. Now, I know that most critics would strike that album, and most lindisfarne fans think that album is the worst of the era. But you should give it another delve. I could listen to that whole album anytime. And as a bonus, when I bought the CD and had four bonus tracks from happy daze. After going back and listening to happy days, I don't care for it or the versions of those songs. But the four bonus tracks are absolutely fantastic. I guess in comparison to the original lindisfarne, I can understand why fans of the original aren't as keen on Roll On ruby. But I think roll on Ruby was one of the best records ever made. From start to finish not one bad or unpleasant part, and those four bonus songs put it over the top. One of my all-time favorites. Take another listen to it, and see if you can figure out why that album has had such an effect on me all these years. By the way, I have never heard or seen a song by Lindisfarne on any radio or television here in the us. And I've never met anyone who's ever heard of them. Don't you think that's bizarre and maybe even a crime?! Thanks again for your reviews.

Thanks very much Matt for your comprehensive comments and your case for Roll on Ruby. I'm just back from holiday today and picking up on emails/comments etc but I intend to give that album another go in the next week or so.

Have you heard Elvis Costello sing winter song and his thoughts about it.I requested Billy Mitchell and Ray Laidlaw to sing it on BBC Tees a few years ago. It was magnificent.

Cheers Andrew-I hadn't heard EC's version until now (on KZbin). Haven't heard his views -I guess he's highlighting what a great song it is?

'Back and Forth' is a great album and would be my number one in the list. 1978 was also the year I first saw the band.
