I'm more optimistic. Dark money has gone so far out of control it now impacts our daily lives in ways that everyone notices: high costs of health care, gun violence, and the climate crisis. Public pressure can force the hand of Congress. Activists forced Congress to write and propose the 17th amendment, for direct election of senators, when the Senate was one of the most corrupt elected bodies in the world. We did it before, we can do it again.
