Being self aware of your past mistakes and finding solace in knowing you’re not the only person in the world that suffers with similar experiences can help people grow past their mistakes instead of dwelling in self hatred. I loved the beginning conversation especially. I’m 27 and disabled and I’ve never even been on a date. I genuinely don’t know how people do it, especially now when everybody’s got phones and there are people just waiting to smear others as “creeps” and “perverts.” While a lot of those people do exist, not everyone fits into that category, and this especially applies to men since I’m a dude. Dating has always been difficult but now it just sucks because everyone is so isolated from one another, particularly in a hyper-individualistic and self-centered society like the US. I feel so bad for Lindsey. I would give anything to meet her. It’s sad that, like me, she feels no one really wants her.

My biggest challenge while dating, was feeling an emotional connections with a guy and not knowing how to communicate it until he would essentially ghost me when he was done. That talk about those moments that just pass hit me hard. There was a summer I met a woman who told me she'd love to date, but it wouldn't be forever because she was trying to get her dream job, and it meant moving from place to place, and she didn't want people to follow her. So I knew it wouldn't last forever. But it was one of the most awesome summers of my life, and we had so much fun and went on a million adventures. She was so kind and sweet. When she finally got her call to move, I knew that was it. I didn't try and find a way "to make that change" because I knew how much that dream meant to her and how serious she was about it. So I let it pass. I'll always be appreciative of the time we had and cherish it in life. Just a happy summer, love and adventure, even if for a brief time.

I can relate a lot to the story Daniel told about the engaged girl he was involved with. When I was in the military, and had just graduated boot camp, I met a girl in my secondary school. She and I immediately hit it off. We spent so much time just hanging out and eventually things became intimate. When we got our orders to go to our permanent duty stations, she and I got put at two separate bases, but were only separated by a few hours. She came to my base one weekend that she had free, and throughout some conversation, eventually let it slip that she was married, and had been for 3 years at that point. Her husband, while all of this was going on, was overseas in Afghanistan, none-the-wiser. I cut her off at lightning speed and then told her husband what was going on and showed him everything and apologized for my part in it all. He ended up being super forgiving and understanding, divorced her and now he’s one of my best friends. But that gut-punch I got from learning of her betrayal to both me and her husband was just devastating.

Clips of the Lindsey talking about giving Devon a BJ brought me here just out of nosiness but I’m actually hella impressed by this podcast and by all three of them. I likely never would have watched this podcast at all if Lindsey hadn’t brought that up and it hadn’t gone viral. I’d never even heard of the pod and would’ve just assumed it was people trying to relive their glory days but y’all are actually all super brilliant, super enlightened, and just very mature and well-rounded. Y’all definitely need to put Lindsey in charge of marketing because I, for one, will be subscribing and watching future episodes whether y’all’s past intimacy ever comes up again or not. That just got folks in the door but y’all’s deep and insightful conversations and what each of you brings to the conversation is what pulls people in. Well done, seriously! Not a lot of celeb podcasts are worth listening to but this one is.

When Lindsey brought up trauma fucking that shit hits hard after being with someone who was a victim of SA, physical assault, and emotional abuse. I’m engaged with my partner with 3 years together, and an 8 month old son. She had back to back abusers and trauma that just culminated in her just living the lifestyle of just having sex and then being left behind. She was confused when I called back after the first date. She was terrified of disappointing in bed and if she was going to be hit when we first started. She cried when I gave her my first gift to her. (a giant rainbow teddy bear she named Huey. She’d never been given a gift from a partner) I’m glad I’ve been patient with her recovering from her trauma and growing to overcome it with both medical and therapeutic assistance, because we have a family now and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

thank you so much for this conversation! It relates so much about my feelings and the fase that i'm in my life right now and I don't feel that much comfortable to talk about it to many people because sometimes they don't open space for this type of conversation. This pod is really helping me :)
