Lindsey Stirling was six years old when she began begging for violin lessons. She began getting 15 minute lessons, which no one thought she could learn from, but she mastered it. It was all their family could afford. Much longer later, she joined a rock band and began experimenting with different types of music, and began earning money for collage by performing. Later, she performed in America's Got Talent, but didn't do very well. But she wouldn't give up. Then, Lindsey was introduced to Devin Graham, who kick-stared her career. Lindsey quoted, ''He changed my life. He taught me everything I needed to know about KZbin.'' It was a while later when Lindsey realized that she was suffering from anorexia, an eating disorder, sometimes very deadly. She noticed that something was wrong with her, and she was becoming very depressed. Finally, she found help and recovered from it. This video is about her suffering of anorexia, and how she had to turn back from her life of being a perfect ballerina. It was hard and scary, but she finally broke through the glass by doing what she loved to do: Playing violin. And on the other side of that glass that she had suffocated her self in for too long, she found what she had been looking for. A whole new world. She finally found happiness. Cheers to you, Lindsey. If you really read through all of that, thanks. Wow this is a long comment.

Lyrics: I pirouette in the dark I see the stars through a mirror Tired mechanical heart Beats 'til the song disappears Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me So cut me from the line Dizzy, spinning endlessly Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me Shatter me Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me If only the clockwork could speak I wouldn't be so alone We burn every magnet and spring And spiral into the unknown Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me So cut me from the line Dizzy, spinning endlessly Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me Shatter me Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me If I break the glass, then I'll have to fly There's no one to catch me if I take a dive I'm scared of changing, the days stay the same The world is spinning, but only in gray If I break the glass, then I'll have to fly There's no one to catch me if I take a dive I'm scared of changing, the days stay the same The world is spinning, but only in gray Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me So cut me from the line Dizzy, spinning endlessly Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me Shatter me Somebody make me feel alive and shatter me

As a male, this song hits close to my heart. It’s a powerful and emotional collaboration between Lindsey Stirling and Lzzy Hale, two amazing artists who have overcome their own struggles and fears. The song is about breaking free from the constraints that hold us back, whether they are internal or external, and finding our true selves. The music video is stunning and captivating. It shows Lindsey as a ballerina trapped inside a snow globe, representing her feelings of isolation and helplessness. She dances with grace and passion, but she can’t escape her prison. Lzzy is the voice of her inner strength, urging her to shatter the glass that separates her from the world. She sings with a raw and powerful voice that contrasts with Lindsey’s delicate violin. The song has a beautiful melody that builds up to an explosive chorus. The violin and the guitar blend together perfectly, creating a dynamic and energetic sound that matches the lyrics. The song also has some dubstep elements that add to the intensity and drama of the story. The song is more than just a catchy tune. It’s a message of hope and courage for anyone who feels trapped or broken by their circumstances. It’s an anthem for those who want to shatter their limits and live their dreams. It’s an inspiration for those who want to feel alive. I love this song so much that I can’t stop listening to it. It makes me feel empowered and motivated to overcome my own fears and challenges. It makes me appreciate the talent and resilience of Lindsey Stirling and Lzzy Hale, who have both faced adversity in their lives but never gave up on their passion for music. This song deserves more recognition and praise for its artistic quality and emotional impact. It’s one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. #ShatterMe #LindseyStirling #LzzyHale #BestSongEver #MusicIsLife

What makes this song even better is that we KNOW the artists conquer their struggles. Yes, they might have to fight them again, but both girls won. They won and are brave enough to share their battles with us so we too can find the strength to battle our own demons. Thank you Lindsay and Lizzy. Keep being awesome.

I really freaking love the symbolism in this video. I don’t know if this is the main intention, but the way I see it is that the ballerina represents someone who is in an abusive or unhealthy situation. She desperately wants to be free, but the glass is keeping her in; she knows breaking it will set her free, but has also been convinced that it will keep her safe, so she stays. When she sees the bat, I believe she’s realizing how this situation has affected her perception of the outside world. And at the end she finally does break free, which takes a lot of courage, because sometimes it’s easier to stay in what you know, even when you know it is unhealthy. Idk why I felt like commenting this lol

Metal is normally a lot faster, based on the category. Like Death Metal, Black Metal, Symphonic Metal. Others are a bit slower, but still Metal, like Love Metal. Examples of these catergories are Cannibal Corpse(Death Metal), Cradle of Filth(Black Metal), Within Temptation(Symphonic Metal), and HIM(Love Metal. Halestorm is a rock band or more specifically, a Hard Rock band.

Everytime I watch this I catch more and more details. I absolutely love how it goes from the ballerina being content only to see something beautiful and tries, too early, too soon, and in the wrong way, to get there. And how she wakes up the second time, the way her head shakes like she's not ready. And the bat showing it might be scary out here, but as the butterfly, shows it's still beautiful despite the fear. How the ballerina uses her own strength (the violin) to escape, despite how it appears the cracking in her skin is painful and terrifying. How her stance changes from the static perfect pose to something more dynamic. The moment she hesitates, hand to her cheek, as if she thinks she can go back to the safety that is killing her... And deciding to shatter instead, showing a less than perfect person underneath but free. Dancing as she wants to. And finally seeing the outside world as it is

I just saw Lindsey in concert and it was INCREDIBLE. There's actually such a deep story behind this: Lindsey struggled with body image and anorexia for years... She constantly was trying to be perfect and was killing herself inside but tried to appear content (the porcelain ballerina). She realized that perfection was suffocating her and she'd have to break out, even if it meant cracking through years of work for perfection, in order to be happy and free.(:

I started playing the violin a year ago. I had been wanting to start playing ever since I first heard this song. The violin wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, and I struggled with many things (such as getting my bow straight, intonation, timing, and many other things), but I didn’t want to quit. I kept listening to Lindsey Stirling’s songs to give me motivation, so that I wouldn’t even think about stopping. The only way people can achieve great things is if they work for it. Currently, I am in the Honors Orchestra at my school. That is the highest orchestra you can be in- and just as I thought when I first started- it wasn’t going to be easy. Just two months ago, I was really having a hard time with orchestra. My grade was lowering, and I didn’t even feel like playing. The transition between beginner orchestra and Honors orchestra was a HUGE ONE. I felt like I was lower than the rest of my classmates because they had more playing experience than I did. ...then I found this song again. After listening to this, I felt that spark of motivation I had when I started. I knew I had to push myself and go past my limits to be like everyone else. I know that this sounds like a pretty fake story, but it’s 100% real. In a month, my orchestra is going to head to a few other schools to play. Either way, I really enjoy this song and it left a huge impact on my heart. Thank you, Lindsey! ❤️

When I first heard this, I was nearly thrown to the floor by the amount of emotion coming from Lindsey's violin and Lzzy's vocals. Thank you for making this song; it's beautiful.

I listen to this for the first time in a while, so nostalgic of my teenage years. Ngl because my tastes in music shifted/broadened I would love to hear a metal cover of this. Edit: turns out there is actually one lol. I like the harsher vocals but it kind of misses some emotion that the original gives me. Can't really pinpoint it, maybe a mix of original and metal cover would be my go to. Or I listen to the cover sometimes and the original some other times xD.

This video is . . . POWERFUL. Someone introduced me to this song about 2 years ago, and I've always really liked it. But I have to admit, it never made a lot of sense until I finally found the video & watched it. I'm blown away. So very moving, and it speaks to me on so many levels.

My interpretation based on my own life: My days seem to literally be the same. Wake up, go to school. Same classes, classes go the same way. Go home at the same time. Every day. Doing the same thing after school, every day. Scared of doing something different, because what if it fails? Just keep going through the motions. Day after day...after day....after day. But still too scared to stray from familiarity. Still stuck inside my npc life, in a constant state of lonliness and sadness, on top of the "do my friends actually like me or am i just kinda there and they don't want me there" mindset, unable to break free. Just a constant cycle. But, this isn't nearly as bad as some others i read on here, so i guess I'm good then. I don't know. I also realize it is kind of a choice to stay like this. If you read this far, thanks. Have a nice day.

equal parts pain and comfort there is certainty in the dreary daily trek. when you live in the shadows long enough the light burns darkness is consistent in its pain you learn to expect and deal with it but light is like the flame of a candle it flickers and wavers it isn't consistent it isn't certain expectations won't always be met hopes get lifted or dashed at random you can get to a better place or fall into the shadow of the light. that uncertainty is terrifying. at least that is what prevents me from breaking out of my self imposed prison. in my prison of my mind i can at least always be certain there will be pain and i can draw comfort from that certainty.

I pirouette in the dark I see the stars through me Tired mechanical heart Beats til the song disappears Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me So cut me from the line Dizzy, spinning endlessly Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me! Shatter me! Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me! If only the clockworks could speak I wouldn't be so alone We burn every magnet and spring And spiral into the unknown Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me So cut me from the line Dizzy, spinning endlessly Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me! Shatter me! Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me! If I break the glass, then I'll have to fly There's no one to catch me if I take a dive I'm scared of changing, the days stay the same The world is spinning but only in gray If I break the glass, then I'll have to fly There's no one to catch me if I take a dive I'm scared of changing, the days stay the same The world is spinning but only in gray (Only) Somebody shine a light I'm frozen by the fear in me Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me So cut me from the line Dizzy, spinning endlessly Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me! Shatter me! Somebody make me feel alive And shatter me!

This has got to be one of my top favorite songs by Lindsey, if not THE top. And Lzzy is freaking insanely amazing with her vocals... Always. Her range is mind-blowing just in this piece alone. But the grit and push when she sings "Shatter me" & then again in the bridge gives me goosebumps every single time I put this song on... Which is a lot. These two need to do some more collabs bc they compliment one another so perfectly.

100% with you on the compliments. This song has long been a favorite for my kids and me and my sister and her kids discovered it independently. It's just amazing. That said, not sure they should regularly collab--part of Lindsey's talent and artistic integrity is developing her works organically from start to finish. Yeah, she uses her contacts, but it's about what fits the piece. I trust that if she develops another track that's good for Lzzy's vocals, Lindsey would make the right call.
