Can we have word on symbolism of this video? I find the abstraction of the video to be just the right amount for something like this. My view: the start of the video starts with a quote about critics and the arena. Then The Lovers appear and beautiful dance in the arena. The crowd doesn't care, they look bored, and are not interested. The Warriors who were in the crowd are now those in the arena, fighting. Crowd goes wild with excitement, they don't care about the beautiful dance, but they love the fight to the death, they cheer. The Mother, cheering for the fight, is now the one in their place, in the arena. She and her daughter are being attacked for being different (they are the only ones wearing horns). At the end, everyone sees them self. They are the crowd. And when they realize that, The Lovers continue to dance, fighters drop swords and do capoeira, and I am not sure what exactly The Mother does. A strong message about how people care less about the truly beautiful things in this world. How we care more about brutality, war, pain, and we are eager to judge and change others. BUT when we are in the place of the ones being judged, then we blame the society, the crowd. But we are that society, we are that crowd, if each of us would change themselves, stop trying to hurt others, and stop being such hypocrites, everyone life would be so much easier, and we could commit to more important things in this life.

Actually...no. :) I think there is more about the ending. The Lovers represent Love. When you do what you truly love something beautiful comes from it (the dance, Lindsay really did awesome!). And even if no one cares, if there is no one to see, YOU should do what YOU love. The Warriors represent aggressive energy. Energy that we all have inside of us, biologically imprinted. But when they see themselves, sitting next to each-other, like brothers, it is shown that energy should not be used against ourselves. But on the other hand we should not try to 'turn it off'. But use that aggressive energy and focus it to make something, and as an example capoeira is a mix of dance and fighting. The Mother represents nurturing energy, doing everything to protect her child. But when she sees themselves in the crowd, she realizes that she is not doing enough. She is protecting her child from the effects, but not from the cause, since her daughter is still sitting in the arena. And then she takes her hand, and lead her out of the arena, that round thingie is the only exit out of it in the video. So, maybe something along these lines: Do what you Love, do what you Will. (but try to understand those terms Love and Will in a much broader sense). Don't care about others, about neigh-sayers, dance even when no one is watching but yourself. Accept yourself. We all know that aggressivity is marked as something bad and we are always trying to 'kill' that part of us. BUT, look at the world? For society that speaks so loudly about aggressivity , we are doing the exact opposite of that. Maybe that is the reason of Mad Max theme in the video. Like a pipe with running water out of it. We are trying to stop the water, but it just spills everywhere. If we are to accept that, as part of ourself, maybe we can focus it. And instead of water spilling everywhere, maybe we can attach a hose and redirect it to water some plants :) And the most important thing. Lets not teach our kids the same patterns of behavior we were taught. It is clearly not working. Take the children our of the arena, and lets try some other approach, because the current one got us to a not so great place.

As much as I'd like her to do it....she doesn't do both at once. Well, not really. She is able to do a bit of rolling at the waist and some stanky legs/ankles (with a ballet twist) whilst playing. Her shows feature prerecorded music while dancing. This doesn't change most of her art to me. I used to get in trouble for swaying during orchestra so I appreciate all her efforts Edit for a grammatical error

Most dancers whether amateur or professional need to have some degree of flexibility on their joints. Hypermobility can be a blessing - for dancers, gymnasts, musicians etc.... or a cusre for people like me, who have trouble with joint dislocations and sublexations (partial dislocations).

She didn't have ballet lessons, she actually taught herself how to dance using videos online. It wasn't until after her music career kicked off and she was recognised for dancing in her videos too that she had choreography lessons.

After all it is her show, and As the "Independent Artist" that she is.. i think she could swing it , with a little nudge of encouragement (hint hint), to actually dance through [nearly] an entire song , without playing the violin. Many of her fans really like to see her dance. It might also give her arms a chance to relax a little in between other song performances. :)

You are my best inspiration, when I first started watching you, I ran as fast as I can to my dads room and ask if I could go for violin lessons to be good like you. He said yes, this is the first time he said yes to anything so major! I quickly dialed a tutor and my dad said that I have to attend piano tutors first, then violin. I started to remember some things when I was young almost the same as your story, I attended ballet class, I won an award for it, I was able to get my first violin. Here I am, 13 years old, trying my best to study in school, and everyday, my teacher would say I had a high grade, especially in Music. You are the reason I started doing and becoming who I really am, you inspired me to do the best I can, and you inspired me to chase my dreams. I now attend violin tutors and I attend badminton classes because it helps my hips and stuff in moving, I've gotten bruises before trying to do all this, but I didn't give up, I stood back up and continued what I did. Thank you Lindsey, so much, for being an inspiration to me, I wouldn't be here right now without you! You probably won't see this, but good luck in your life! May all your dreams come true!

Okay, yesterday, I got really discouraged on the violin. I've been playing a year and three months, and someone with the EXACT same time playing can play some of your songs. I don't have a teacher nor can I GET one, so I got a little depressed, thinking, "I'll never be able to do it." Because I'm not anywhere close to this. Today, I listened to this song, and I'm inspired all over again. I'm not going to give up that easily! I'm going to put up a fight! But anyway, the point of this comment is to tell you that you helped me remember that some people are just better than others, but hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard. You've ALWAYS inspired me, but this was a MAJOR thing. First time I've EVER been discouraged on the violin. So thank you, I know you must get a lot of these comments and probably skip over them now, but if you see this, thank you for inspiring me and making music, you're awesome, keep being you!

My son hasn't played this year due to college but he loves playing. He has partial paralysis in his right arm and bone structure issues. He was paralyzed on his right side when he was born. Started the violin when he was 9 and had teachers. He's not as good as others his age, but he loves it and works around his limitations. If it's something you enjoy... Just continue to go for it.

Oh Angel, I know what you're saying. The violin is a hard instrument to learn, and it takes even longer to make it sing. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, just keep on going. I've been playing the violin since I was about 8 and I still find her songs difficult to play - they're just so fast and so intricate. Keep working on it, keep playing and love what you do.

I started violin when I was 4 and am turning 21 in September. My violin is my best friend of 16 years. I will keep playing until the day I die. When you decide to play violin you must realize that it if you stick to it for life it will be the best investment you make for yourself because it will always be with you through break ups, ilnesses, death, your first love, your true love, marriages, birthdays, when you're taking study breaks, after you come home from work. Your violin will never give up on you

America's Got Talented was hard on her and said she just wasn't a good enough violinist to be dancing and playing. Haha, well, look at her today. She's almost got 3 times as many subscibers and she is sweeter, kinder, more beautiful, more modest, more responsible, more true to herself, more funny, more smart, more talented, and more brave than probably anyone in the whole world.

On her Brave Enough tour, she talked about how the judges said she would never be able to fill up a venue, then they turned on all the lights towards the full theater of thousands of people. It was funny. Not to mention, I think Lindsey is literally like the only act from AGT that went on to become hugely popular and she only made it to the quarter finals 😂

True, though as an amateur violinist, I will point out that she has a tendency to lean the palm of her hand on the neck of her violin, which is not good form. I did that at the beginning, and it took my teacher A LOT of work to train that out of me. I like Lindsey's music, but I always zoom in on whether or not she's doing one of the things I was taught not to do.

I've always wanted to dance but I live in the middle of nowhere so there are no lessons! But Lindsey inspired ME to play the violin, and sometimes I dance around in my room. But I want to dance PROFESSIONALLY. Hopefully one day I can take some classes.

I think the message at the beginning of the video was portrayed very well thought out the video, and that was that there will always be people who are going to fight you and your beliefs, but in the end of the whole scheme of things the only person you have to worried about making happy is your self and no one else.

This feels like Lindsey's journey in a video. Being told by the judges that she's not good enough to fill a stadium, Lindsey decided that what she thought mattered infinitely more. She's unapologeticly herself, creative and weird and wonderful, and it didn't take much for the rest of the world to see that. I don't play an instrument and I can't dance, but I'm inspired anyway. Thank you for proving that it's okay to be yourself.

For the record, I tried searching "Sempar Fide". No direct references except for redirections to "Semper Fidelis". Using a Latin to English translator app reveals that the word "Sempar" is not recognized and "Fide" references "Faith". When the two people are chosen to be in the arena, others begin to think what being in the arena is like, they are then brought to different aspects of time where they were in the arena. They begin to realize it is a scary experience and see the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.

Weird Craft Stuff wow this is my first year playing cello at Richardson Prep Hi in the Intermediate Orchastra and fourth year playing viola. I really love music and hope i can become a pro at music and go into major compatitions( sorry if spelled wrong) but thats my major dream is to compete world round amd live in tokyo japan.

It is interesting how everyone got a different message. I thought it was that they felt like they were being forced to do these things, that they had to fight or dance or go through this because all these other people were forcing them to do it and judging them, but in the end they realized that the only people/person who was in crowd and urging them on to dance and fight was themselves. As a way of saying, society doesn't make you do things. It might show you a path, but that doesn't mean that is the right one for you and you can to walk a way, follow it, or even follow it but your own way.

What got form that was that it doesn't matter who is talking about you or your work but that if you have happy you are teh only judge who matters not the others who are on lookers be happy with what you can do and just do it.

Okay, I think I have this one down after watching it over and over. Whether you are a performer, a person with antlers, or the only pirate at the party, you can feel like you are being judged and hated by everyone around you. But you need to realize that the only person in the crowd whose approval you actually need is your own. Then you can do/be what/who you want and be happy.

Thanks! And at view 10 I just realized the middle act is "competition". The two guys are friends but the fans throw garbage at them. So Perform, Compete, Exist. Although I am now leaning towards the first being Love instead of perform. They break up at 0:52 when she realizes people are watching. But at 1:01 he won't let her go.
