Line 6 Catalyst 60 Combo Amp Review & Demo - Is It Worth It?

An update to what's mentioned in this video... Line 6 added some functionality to the footswitch (as well as other functions) that can be changed within the Catalyst Edit Software; one of those is the ability to change the function of the 2nd footswitch from Effect on/off to a number of functions, including Boost on/off, Reverb On/Off, Tap Tempo, and even some combinations. if you connect your Catalyst to the editor, under the setting menu, you will find the FS2 functions and a drop down menu. while FS1 is always CHANNEL, FS2 can be edited there.

Great video ! Confirms what I’ve been feeling about the Catalyst I run my Helix into the power amp input and it’s great. For backyard get togethers I just take the amp. It has plenty of options as is. Happy to hear they changed the foot-switch options to allow for boost on and off, but I’m just using a small midi controller which lets you change whatever you want anytime

@@bloodflower2141 it was super harsh and rattly, insane amounts of treble whatever I did. Two things changed that, editing bias bias X and sag , and not playing it in a room with shiny wooden floors. I wouldn't have thought the acoustics if a room could actually make it sound terrible but when I set it up outside on the deck it sounds absolutely brilliant.

only thing i hated about was how convoluted felt the whole process to understand how to add effects and created a panels etc just wish it was made in a different way.. i still confused

Hey there! In order to activate the tuner on the amp, you need to hold the TAP button for more than 2 seconds and it will activate it. Once you're done tuning, you need to click the TAP button once again. Hope that this helped you. Cheers!

is it possible to use and dedicate the boost to a midi controller footswitch? that way i won't need to buy the line 6 footswitch i can buy any other one with more options and use the preset, effects and boost with 1 foot controller

Cool vid. This Amp is INCREDIBLE IMO. Amazing is exactly right, and it will blow you away - esp for the money they get for it. The footswitch, on the other hand... Awful! I mean... what are we... back in 1992? Hard to believe they delivered this amazing Amp, and didn't allow us to unlock much of it's usability and potential, with a legit modern footswitch. A shame.

Is rock and metal the only types of music these amps are designed for. I haven't seen hardly any demos of the line 6 catalyst or power cab used to play other genres of music ie blues, jazz, or r&b etc...

Yo compré un catalyst 60 y es la peor compra que he hecho en mi vida. Quiero pensar que es mi amplificador en sí porque realmente suena bien pero se apaga al cuarto de hora. Lo he llevado al SAT de Yamaha, me han cambiado la placa me volvió a fallar, luego me cambiaron el cono y también falló en lo mismo. He cambiado los jacks por si ese fuera el problema. Y no es por el volumen por qué lo mismo falla al 30 % que al 90% y no me dan solución. No sé si a alguien le ha pasado lo mismo y encontró la solución, de ser así estaría agradecido que lo dejara en comentarios😅. Deja de sonar pero no se apaga. Creo que puede ser el termistor pero aún cambiando la placa base sigue con el mismo fallo. Si alguien puede echarme un cable sería genial
