Or you could just download the free app software, plug the 500 into your computer and design your sounds from there. Now for sure in a live setup, you can bend down and on the fly tweak a stomp box or swap out a box in your signal chain but why? Keep your favourite stomps align them in your signal chain either on the floor or from your computer ahead of time. Yes it will take some time setting it up.

Can you run this directly into a Marshal cabinet(1960B), not using an actual amp head. If so, will it crank.
@johndubchak10 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have run it both through an amp (Marshall, Line 6 and Fender) or directly into a PA system. It works very well.
@barrybennedetta10 жыл бұрын
No you can't run it straight into a Marshall cabinet (1960B)! It does not have a power amp built into it. It is meant to be used as either a pedal board into a regular guitar amplifier, as a pre-amp that goes into a power amp and then to a cabinet and finally as a unit that has simulated guitar amplifier sounds with adjustable effects to go directly into a PA system thus eliminating the need for a guitar amplifier on the stage or platform,

It's sound pretty silly but, can anyone tell me what difference it makes when effect pedals are before or after the amp on the HD500X? Thanks guys
@snicki5910 жыл бұрын
Yes, for example: a delay for an angry gained amp. The delay will be gained too, an the volume for the repeats will get louder than after the amp, but for some reasons, it will be better, when U will get loud repeats (as an effect, fade in/outs, and only the delay repeats will stay). But there are no rules, what better sounds is the right way, but there are some tips, that U can use. Wah, Overdrive and Distortion gernally in Front of the Amp, Modulationeffects after the Preamp. Booster, EQ depends on, what U will get with them. But I still use Chorus and Phaser in Front of the Amp, for me, it sounds more Classic Rock n Roll like.
@ericorozco58317 жыл бұрын
how do u use tap tempo for delays and what not???? anyone know?

What about the digital hash that sits around 2.9kHz? It's in almost every preamp and is especially noticeable with any kind of overdrive. It just sounds nasty! I don't understand why Line 6 would release something that sounds bad.
@Albee2137 жыл бұрын
I have been a Boss GT user for 20 years, but the HD500x is far better than what I have used and much easier to dial in a tone within minutes that work. I use mine either direct for recording or with a old Peavey Classic 60/60 stereo tube amp and it simply kicks ass. I can go from raging Marshall tone to Mesa death metal tone instantly. My only complaint is that the GT-75 speaker simulation sounds awful. When I try to setup a Marshall sound with that speaker cab which is "stock" Marshall sound it sounds nothing like it. So I use the v30 cabs more often.

I currently have Boss GT-1 and I am thinking of getting this. Do you think it’s worth upgrading?
@Albee213 Жыл бұрын
@@jieunlee6470 If you want better amp modeling I would say yes. If you are using it simply as an effects unit no, the boss is a little better. I still use the Boss GT-100 with a Marshall and using 4 cable method. This allows me to use the amps sound while placing the effects in the loop. This allows a lot of tweaking power as well. I sold my Line-6 because I use VSTs amps on the PC 99% of the time.

@@jieunlee6470 Well, if you want easy, use the Line-6. You set it up and plug it in. But if you want more tweaking and more complications then use the Boss with the 4-cable method. @patmepin158 жыл бұрын
The 500x version has more computing power allowing you to use more effects and amps simultaneously. Typically if you have 2 amps going at the same time the POD runs into a limit to the number of effects that it can run. I find that amps, reverbs, and delays use the most amount of 'DSP' or computing power.
