I think it's worth mentioning, if it hasn't been brought up, is your footwear could be a factor in getting things in sync for recording and playback of the looper. I've found that softer soles on my shoe or soles that have tread on them (like a sneaker) can effect your timing when you trigger the looper (a wide sole can also be an issue). A harder, flatter, narrower sole is much more dependable.

How do you change the preset once the loop has started? For example, you start the loop with a clean program and then solo with a distorted preset? You video didn't discussed this. Thanks
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar Жыл бұрын
Great question. The main option you have is once you have your loop as you want to play over: use the mode button to exit back to the home screen where you can change your effects to alter your sound. You could have your home screen in snapshot mode to allow you to change sounds easily by changing multiple settings with one button (if you're unfamiliar with snapshot mode check out the video I did on the channel entitled helix lt snapshot tutorial). As far as I know I don't think you can change patches completely once a loop is going, you could explore if the patch you're switching to has a looper in the signal path - and if this allows you to change patches whilst keeping a loop going. Otherwise you will just have to plan out your signal paths to facilitate some options to change sounds drastically. If you have any further questions let me know for sure, and maybe check out thr helix lt building patches video if you need some tips in laying out a signal path in which you can customise to your own settings. Thanks for the great question! Happy playing Ryan

@hpmguitar

It's a good question and one I should have covered in the video. If you want create a new loop: all you need to is press the play/stop button to stop the loop playing and then hit record when you're ready to begin you're new loop. It's very simple. Please let me know if you have any questions or anything else you would like help with. Best, Ryan

Can you create a patch that has the looper intograted with a freeze effect and if so where in that vhsin would the looper be best to place? Id like this for practice and also for transition peices between songs live
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar 6 ай бұрын
Hi There, When you freeze effect: do you mean like a kill switch to turn the loop off ? Because if so, you could set up a switch or exp ped on the unit to cut the volume of the loop in between transitions. As for the best position - I'd say starting off with the looper as the last block in the signal chain, would be a good place to start. Please let me know if this was helpful or not - I do like your question and want to make sure you get the answer you're looking for. best, Ryan

how do you clear the loop for the next song? just "undo" back to zero?
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joey Good question. The easiest way to clear the loop is to press stop/play button to stop the loop entirely - and then once you've done this just begin making your new loop from scratch with the record. The undo is only needed while the loop is in playback. Let me know if you have any more question! Best, Ryan

Hi Frank, Really good question. All you need to do is press the mode button to exit the looper and access your sounds either in snapshot mode or stomp mode to change your sounds. I updated from the Boss GT-10 to the Helix LT recently, and what was amazing about the GT-10 was that I could record a loop, and then scroll through all my presets/user patches while that loop was constantly on, so I could test out every single sound. Is that possible with the Helix, or is the looper restricted only to the preset/patch you put it on?
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar 2 жыл бұрын
That's an excellent question. With the helix lt the looper is an effect block that you load into a signal path. It sounds like with the gt10 that the looper might be something that is always part of the signal path? I know in snap shot mode you can switch through different sounds in a preset, but I would have to experiment with thr unit to see if you can change patches with keeping the looper running. At face value I think whatever patch you're switching to would need to have a looper in it for it to be possible. Talk soon Dave
@Crabfather
@Crabfather 2 жыл бұрын
Thats a great function. Its not so straightforward with the helix unfortunately. You would need to add a looper into every preset. The thing that had mectearing my hair out fir a while was that they both need need to be the same type of looper, and both either stereo or mono.

Why can't anybody just give a straightforward answer to questions like this? It's always overexplaining. Just tell us can we switch to other presets to play over the recorded loop and perhaps maybe be add those presets as overdub? gt 100 also has that feature.

I Have the Headrush MX5 I just got a month ago, and I love it. But this is something freaking else. I'm thinking about taking it back to guitar center and getting this tomorrow. Now my looper on the MX5 Is 20 minutes. I'm hearing the looper on this is 60 seconds. Huge difference. Is the loop time really that important? I just started playing Bass about 7 months ago, and I'm pretty advanced. I just want a multi effects pedal that I'm going to keep, and be satisfied with for a long while. I went from the Mooer Ge100, to the Mooer GE200, to the MX5 in a matter of Months. All I keep hearing about is the Helix line 6. And Im itching to get it tomorrow.😂 And also, do you think it's good for a Bass?
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, thanks for the questions. I personally like the helix and feel its the best unit in the price bracket before stepping up to units like a kemper for example. However, everyone has there own personal preferences that they are chasing in a unit. Unless you're doing experimental long form music you won't need any more out of the looper on the helix. And yes, it has specific bass amps and fx (not to mention the constant updates line 6 offer free to owners). Let me know how you go with the unit if you end up buying it. Best wishes, Ryan

@@hpmguitar I ended up going with the Headrush prime. Did not know how big this thing is. The Guitar center guy helped me make the decision. I like that it has the vocal processor. this particular store didn't have the 6 in stock. They recently sold the last one. Please don't say anything bad about the Headrush prime 😂That would just depress me. Thanks for your opinion. It's gonna probably take me a while to figure this thing out.

Can you save loops? Have a bank of loops?
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Really good question. As far as I know line 6 has traditionally run their loopers as practice tools or as something you need to build live. I'll double check to make sure, but I'm 99% sure you can't save your loops Like you can on a designated looper like a loopstation, headrush looping unit or even TC voicelive.

@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar 2 ай бұрын
Good question - with this I think your best option for doing it all in the helix would be to use snapshots. So, you could set up your loop - exit the looper and then use the snapshot settings to change the sound. With a little bit of pre planning you will get the result with this approach. If you aren't familiar with using snapshots have a look at the channel and there are a few tutorials there. Good luck, Ryan

I've just had a look through the menu's and global settings to see if there was anything relating to your problem - but unfortunately I couldn't find anything. My looper is only recording approximately one second, then it starts to play back automatically, any ideas why this is happening? It's the same with the factory presets, so it isn't due to something I did wrong in the user preset that I created.

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to apply the loop option to every preset without doing them individually. Also: When playing loops back, they are too low, and when I look at the volume option on the HX editor, it is already turned up to the highest level. Is there another way to change this to a higher volume?
@hpmguitar
@hpmguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi Art, thanks for the questions. With the first question unfortunately you need to apply the looper manually to the patches you want to use it on. With your second question: the first thing that come to mind to check is the signal path. Whenever I use the looper it always at the last spot in the signal path. I did a video how I usually set up signal paths with the looper on the end here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH7Imoivaqyeftk Because if it is signal path layout, having your compressor and everything beforehand will sort that issue out. Please let me know if that helps, because I'm generally curious as why the loops are quiet and keen to help you get this one sorted out. Talk soon, Ryan
