Ruben, The POD is not an interface; it’s just a substitute for an amplifier. So, unfortunately the POD wouldn’t replace your Roland UA-4fx. My recording setup for the video was like this: guitar → ¼” cable → POD → ¼” cable → Apogee Duet audio interface → USB cable → laptop → Logic So you can see the POD just goes where an amp/mic would normally go in the recording process. Still need an interface though. Hope that helps! matt

There's a switch on the back that says AMP/DIRECT. Switch it to amp if you're using one, and it will disengage the speaker emulation function. If you're recording directly, switch back to DIRECT and it will turn the speaker emulation back on. Thanks for watching.

Modeling amps are getting better and better. I have several Marshalls and the current Line 6 stuff replaces the Marshalls, the Fenders, the Mesa-Boogies, the Rolands, the AC Vox and just about everything else. For a few bucks you can easily replaces $15,000 worth of classic amps.

Yup. Cabinet switching and effect switching are completely independent. So if you have a 4x12 with a little distortion and flange, and you switch to a 1x8 speaker, you'll still have the same distortion/flange on that patch. Thanks for watching.

Tomas - This only replaces your amp. Having this by itself is like just having an amp by itself. So you still need something else to record on, like ProTools, Garageband, etc (and some kind of an audio interface between the POD and your recording software). Hope that helps.

Great video. I have some questions. I have an old Pod 2.0 I haven't used in over a decade, and I just broke it out to be used exclusively as a headphones-practice amp. But I cannot, for the life of me, get any kind of a decent sound. All I want is ONE thing from this unit. A clean, pre CBS (black panel) Fender sound. Years ago, I was able to get a decent practice sound from my headphones, but now, I swear, I am ready to throw this thing in the garbage! I am looking at the paused video at 00:35. I even took a screenshot on my phone and set my 2.0 to the EXACT settings in the picture. All I want is one thing from it. A clean, Fender sound circa Jerry Garcia (or Mark Knopfler, etc.) and literally every sound coming into my headphones is pure, unadulterated garbage. Not only that, but when I make minute changes in the dials, I get these bizarre Funhouse sounds spewing out of this unit. So can I get a clean, Fender Twin sound out of this? If so, how? Because I have tried playing with all the settings. I reset the thing back to factory defaults as a last attempt. I have tried both "1B" and "7C" (the two "Black Face sounds) as well as hitting the "Manual" button and turning the dial to "Black Panel." Any idea why I can't get decent sounds from my headphones?
@panicorganic64745 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I haven't responded to many comments lately but I got a notification for your comment and feel like it deserves a response. Unfortunately I can't help much. I don't have the POD any more. I actually filmed this because I was selling the unit on eBay and I wanted to show potential buyers what it could do...then I left the video up since it seems to be helpful to people. I was going to suggest a factory reset, but I see you've done that. Is there a way to get a firmware update for it? I really don't know. Another possibility is that your ears have grown more refined, but that doesn't explain the funhouse sound. I really wish I could be more help. Sorry again.

am glad you mentioned church because my son has become the main guitarist for his youth band and he said they started using pedals now for these recent batches of songs they have been doing. He wants to start building up his own pedals slowly so my question is would this be a good start or is this POD just kind of an amp modeling deal? Can you run this through and amps clean channel and use it as your "pedal board". I mess around with guitars and we have a half stack but I have no clue when it comes to pedals because my style of music is skate punk which doesn't use and pedals just straight forward distortion or clean . I listen to a lot of praise and worship like Jesus Culture, Hillsong United,Desperation Band and other like that and I see their pedal boards and just get lost in all of that. If you could answer my questions or have suggestions for maybe 3 starter pedals that would be awesome. God bless
@lukebogartmix10 жыл бұрын
I play at church as well. I use two overdrives (Ibanez TS9 and Fulltone OCD), a boost (RC Booster), then into a delay (Eventide Timefactor). For worship stuff, a good overdrive like a Fulltone Mosfet, a delay pedal like a Boss DD-7, then a tuner is essential. To be more versatile, I recommend a boost and maybe reverb. I use the TS9 on at all times, even for my cleans to give it some grit, then I stack on the OCD for full gain, RC Booster for leads, and the Eventide for cool delay stuff. Just take that as ground, and then work from there!

Matt what is the cable you use to connect the Pod to the computer's sound card. It's a standard jack on one end but exactly what is the the other 3.5mm mini-jack, from whom. Your's seems to plug into a feamle socket. Can you describe that in detail. BTW Your chords seem much better than my unit, perhaps its your Gibson guitar. On the high gain amp sounds it (chords) sort of melds together in a mess but the solo lead lines are fine.

Bristol Bridge I happened to get lucky and got one in just about mint condition for around $100 on eBay. I also have many valve amps, POD HD500, Digitech RP1000, HELIX, Fractal AX8, and MANY pedals too, but THIS little "bean" has always been a cool little gadget for home recording, etc. I actually like my modelers and they serve a purpose in my studio... This one (2.0) has its own vibe. Many say they sound like garbage/crap, but I disagree. Can make it sound pretty darn realistic with some work, but all in all, just have fun! For practice they're unbeatable too!!! These are a lot of fun, while also being inexpensive. You'll have fun with one guaranteed!!! Best

Honestly I don't know if I would be much help, except to go back and look at how I set the knobs during the video. I would say as a general rule, I keep cleaner sounds pretty flat, highly distorted sounds have a mid scoop turning up the bass and treble and turning the mids way down, and for solos I tend to reverse that by accentuating the mid range and backing off the bass. That's probably the best I've got. Hope that helps!

Jordan, forgive me if I didn't reply to this already. Yes, you can plug it directly into the PA system (like a vocal mic that goes straight in, or like some bass players do by using a direct box). If you're playing in a place that doesn't have a PA, then you'd need an amp. Hope that helps.

1/4 inch to 1/8 inch to plug from output into line in on computer is an option, isn't the best quality for sure, but OK for casual stuff. If you want good quality recordings if say you want to do high quality covers, some sort of USB interface would be your best bet, you can find a USB interface used for around $30.

I’m new to the electric guitar. I have a simple amp. I want to create all these cool sounds on my guitar. Can I merely plug this POD into my amp. Or any suggestions for creating these sounds. What is this POD all plugged into and where is the sound coming out? Thx!
@panicorganic64744 жыл бұрын
So this POD unit (and others like it) is intended to replace an amplifier by simulating the sounds of a speaker cone, wooden cabinet, microphone placement, etc. In this video, no amplifier was used. I went straight from the POD into my digital recording interface and (presto), it sounds like an amp. If you already have an amplifier, then this might be redundant. What you're looking for are the *effects* that come before the amp simulation (which the POD also has). So you have two options: buy a POD and disengage the amp simulation section (which I believe is possible). Or, just go for some effects pedals, and then plug those pedals directly into your amp. There are all-in-one multi-effect pedals which have lots of sounds in one box, or you can get stand-alone effects pedals to replicate all the different sounds you hear here. Just type "guitar effects pedals" into KZbin, and you'll go down a rabbit hole of endless possibilities. I hope this helps. Be well.
