Sounds great and that's what's important. It took a long time for me to start ignoring the familiar sayings: Doesn't sounds real Pushing air Kemper is better Amp is better What you need is to find the best sound to suit your needs, and use it. Don't say "it doesn't sound like a 5150" etc, but just find the best tone for yourself and USE IT! The crowed doesn't say "ah, it sounds like a plexi", all they hear is noise anyways.
@givemeajackson4 жыл бұрын
imo that's a matter of personal useage. for pretty much every professional application, especially live, modern modellers are absolutely perfect, and ignoring the familiar sayings is absolutely valid. but nothing is ever as fun as sitting in front of a real amp with a real cab. imo tube amps are for personal enjoyment these days. i don't walk away from my friend's kemper smiling ear to ear, but i do walk away from my blackmore and laney 412 grinning like an idiot. depends on what you're looking for.
@gutsuthemasterchef4 жыл бұрын
The thing about guitarrists is that most of the time we choose de sound for two reasons: how it sounds with everyone else playing at the same time and how it sounds to ourselves as we play it. So, yeah, tone is definely not that important to the crowd, but It is for ourselves. It help us feel comfortable playing. Thing is: I do feel that I play better when I'm using my usual gear or something that sound as good or better then when I'm playing with something entry-level, because when it doesn't sounds right, it's distracting.
@irmasil34 жыл бұрын
The most interesting part is that most people complaining the modellers don't sound like the "real thing" never actually played the real thing....B. Marsden used to laugh with all the guys mentioning how this or that Les Paul doesn't sound like the real 59' and he always responded: "Ok....how many originals have YOU played???? Cos I played a few.... :) " And the usual response was 0...
@BollocksUtwat4 жыл бұрын
Arguably though an audience can hear the difference if you play better when having more fun and sadly having more fun with a cranked tube amp is basically a thing of the past for all but the most popular acts who can afford to bully their way into a venue with whatever kit they want.
@miket26463 жыл бұрын
Love this conversation because there's so much truth to it. The modelers are just awesome in the studio and work so well on stage for going to FOH. But yea, at the end of the day.... nothing will ever feel like standing in front of tubes while pushing a few feet of drivers.

I recently lost all my gear in a house fire, and I ended up getting the POD Go as a quick and dirty replacement for all the pedals, rack gear, and computer/amp sims I lost in the fire. This unit works spectacular as a stompbox/fly rig in front of an amp with the cab sims disabled. It's definitely not a replacement for a good amp sim for recording, but as an all-in-one unit for gigging with a amp, it's great.

This is a little long but if you're on the fence about modeling this could be a worthwhile read. I bought one of these for late night practicing through headphones and the occasional fly gig/jam. It sounds so good to me that it has become my main rig, but there’s an important catch- I bypass the cab sims and put it straight into the fx loop return of my Bad Cat Cub 15R because, let’s face it, FRFR systems cannot recreate the “amp in a room” sound. Although I’m not about to part with my Eventide H9, the effects on board are good to excellent. I’m still pretty floored by how uniformly great this setup sounds. Just so you don’t think I’m some easily impressed noob, I’ve been playing since the early 80’s and own or have owned great amps by the likes of Mesa (at least 6), Carr, Friedman, Budda, Fender CS, Orange, Rivera, Revv, and so-on. I’ve had my favorites from these brands and I can really say that the Pod Go into my Bad Cat’s fx loop return puts as big a smile on my face as any of the above amps. Maybe I just got lucky and the Bad Cat just happens to “like” the Pod Go and it’s a great combination just by chance? Eventually I’ll pull out other amps to find out. I also think it’s important to mention that in my experience it doesn’t sound good into the front of an amp which makes sense given that you’re putting a modeled preamp into a real preamp in this scenario. Modeling has really come of age IMHO. If you’re tired of lugging a big rig around and you’re intrigued by modeling but don’t like the FRFR experience you should consider this kind of setup. You may be very surprised. Oh yeah, the day after I bought this I got an email from Fractal as I'd been on their waiting list for the past 6 months for a FM3. With all the confidence that I was making the right choice and zero regret to date, I told them I was going to pass. YMMV

While the built in cab-sims sound much more realistic, if you invest some time to try different mics and mic positions.

I've got the HX Stomp and along with it I use IR's from Celestion themselves and it sounds phenomenal! This is the realest guitar tone and closest I have ever heard to a real amp. The celestion IR's are made of insane quality and you really should check them out. They have sound samples for every IR so you always know how the characteristic of the sound is gonna be like. Note that all of the Helix family members (:D) use the exact same sounds so the pod go and hx stomp use the exact same sounds as the Helix and Helix LT. Ignore the standard cabs, the amps are insane and paired with high quality IR's you will be definitely satisfied after spending some time tweaking it.

Hi! CAN i Ask wich ir celestion you use for metal? If you play metal... thank you
@DropDee444 жыл бұрын
@@danyroy-robert7544 I dont really play metal but for punk rock and post hardcore I really love the V30. Also the Surh V30 is probably sounding really great for metal but you should check out their site because they have sound samples for every single speaker.

How did you hook that up to the amp/ cabinet? Just putting the whole signal through the amps effects loop?

If there is distortion pedals, is there pedals to turn distortion back to clean? I know you can just turn off a distortion pedal, but I'm just curious if it's a thing

Hi Ola I was wondering how the ZOOM G11 stands up to the last few (Fractal, POD Go etc...) you have reviewed. Have you tried it?
