That's correct, this version of the unit was made in 1998 and for some reason they did not include phantom power which is what you need to be able to get a signal from a condenser mic. So in order to run a condenser mic, first you need an external device or another interface with phantom power

Hey Vincent, unfortunately you need the Line6 Podfarm software to use with this. I dont think they have support for this unit anymore since they updated it a few years ago

@@artemorbid Thanks for your reply friend. Just managed to connect it with windows 10 and installed software from there and it shows green light but I havent tried it with any DAW yet. It’s hard to work with and it makes you think this isn’t worth the time anymore when you have Focusrite products and so easy to use. Thanks very much man. I really appreciate it.

The process is similar, all you do is use the line in from the back. The mixers line out goes into the ux1 line in.

Hi Dianne, that's correct, unfortunately the Line 6 program only allows you to choose one signal at a time. However, I think there are other devices that are more modern that will let you get both signals but for this unit, only one at a time, you can still record but not at once. You can record guitar and then record vocals after. Bit not at the same time

Pedro Cesar Peña Yes, just make sure you have the tracks available to record on your digital audio recording software. I use Ableton and can do several tracks at once, hope this helps.

Unfortunately I experienced the same thing. I dont think there is a way around it with this unit. I know they updated this one with something new. Although I have not tried it, I think it would probably be better with the issue at hand

I use instruments for vocals cause i dont have xlr plug for my mic. When i record the vocals isnt picking up the same volume, i mean it fluctuates like crazy. Would it be better to use xlr instead?

You should be able to run a cable into the instrument port and it should pick up the signal just fine. If you need to go stereo just find a cable with two left and right jack into a single stereo jack and it should work just fine

I am using Ableton Live 10 now. The only driver I can select here is CoreAudio and it doesn't recognize the UX-1. Is the interface too old to get recognized?

I have this exact same unit that I use still to this day, it is Sooooooo bad :( NEURAL DSP and Amplitube 5 sounds like crap on it, very muddy and not responsive. Weird noises in the backround. I have had this UX1 for 9 years or something now, I am thinking of buying a Focusrite Scarlett GEN 3 today and I really hope there is a huge difference in sound quality and stuff.

I have a question... I had already downloaded the monkey downloader..but it can't download the drivers...I had already tried to download them from the line 6 website. I can download the drivers for my windows 7 but still it won't recognise my ux1..any suggestions thanks

Well for simple recording yes but not for a pro recording. Normally drums require more mics and overall a different source for recording. But if you just need it for a personal recording as a reference then this will be just as good

@@miguelsantos84 Hey Miguel, its no problem, I like helping people. Yes you can use your webcam at the same time. In terms of sync you will need an editing program. I use PowerDirector 17 which lets you bring in the footage and then the song you recorded using the Line6. Once you have them in the timeline then there is a Sync button that will do it for you. However you can also try to match it yourself by using your eyes to match the wave form but that is very difficult to achieve sometimes. As far as burning cd's you will need a pc with a cd drive or and external cd drive which will then let you burn you music to cd. Hope that helps

Well, I think it also depends on the mic and also the room you record in, that actually plays a big roll. This device only captures the audio and not much else.

Thanx for the vids Frank. I've got a GM-200 Guitar Amp Modeler that I used to record guitar/bass directly into my laptop. But that old laptop is dead I can't even turn it on. Anywayz with my new laptop I can't get any guitar sound.
