Line C-9 CERCANÍAS MADRID: 100 years of trips to the Guadarrama mountains 🚉

To celebrate the centenary of the Guadarrama Electric Railway, in this video we travel along its heir line, the C-9 Cercedilla - Cotos of Renfe Cercanías Madrid, also known as 'The train of nature' or popularly as the 'train of the mountains' throughout its history.
Starting from Cercedilla station, a representative civil building built at the end of the 19th century by the Compañía de Ferrocarriles del Norte, we will travel the 18 kilometres that separate this town from Puerto de Cotos. We will cross the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range, stop at disused halts such as Camorritos and Siete Picos, delight in the flora and fauna of this impressive mountain landscape and enjoy the interior of Cotos station, which still has the atmosphere of a high-mountain station with chimneys included. And, of course, we will also see the iconic Puerto de Navacerrada station, where this route originally ended when it opened in 1923.
During the journey we will discover the rich history of this unique railway line with 100 years behind it, learn about the trains used on it and immerse ourselves in the magic of travelling on this unique and unrepeatable Renfe 442 series.

Muy chulo el vídeo. Va a ser efectivamente una lástima perder la experiencia de viajar en estas unidades. Sentir el tranqueteo, el aire en la cara... Sobre lo que dices de las chimeneas, la de Puerto de Navacerrada estuvo funcionando hasta hace unos pocos años, puesto que la cafetería de la estación aún funcionaba. Era una delicia tomarse un caldo o un Cola-Cao calentito junto al fuego en contraste con el frío de fuera. Ojalá se recupere algún día. 😊
