Kurfust is relatively easier to play in the meta as a sniper tank. It can pretty much beat most bbs at range due to the armor. But it gets demolished by dds. Schlieffen on the other requires EXTREME understanding of concealment and map awareness. It's really great for flanking by laying low and catching people off guard. Both are really fun in their own way.

@@mcdonaldssqueeky3345 To be fair, sometimes DDs get cocky with the GK and give far too much broadside thinking GK players don’t swap to HE - only to eat a whole salvo of HE and go down.

If you're lucky with the timing, I think a GK can survive a full Shima load, tearing it apart on the way out, but you won't have much HP afterwards

​@@FunandGameswithTerry yes Shimas get overconfident when i play GK , when i have full HP i will stay alive with 10k hp and Shima most of the times doesnt get out alive if they want all their torps to land , if you use sonar wisely no DD except maybe lethal gunboats like Groningen , Khaba and Friesland can deal with GK , its very hard to deal with something like those 3 in GK , torpedo boats arent the biggest weakness of GK but gunboats with high fire chance , fire is what GK is prone to

A great overview - the tech trees are definitely more complex these days, and going more into detail of how they differ is a very good idea indeed. The Schlieffen is definitely a trickier ship to play, you rely much more of concealment and a surprise factor and the CV spotting nerf has helped it in this regard. But it’s still more situational and requires a lot of patience. But when that patience is rewarded and you can unleash all your guns and torps at a poor victim, it’s immensely satisfying. 😂

In think too many players don't realise the subtle distinctions between battleships and battlecruisers. When I see St. Vincents going for cap rushes, or Schlieffens hanging back at 14km, it's always a wasted potential. Schlieffen is kind of my "spirit animal", so I'm somewhat biased, but I actually find her easier to consistently do well. Fires are the bane of your existence in both ships, but at least Schlieffen isn't visible from orbit.

@@FunandGameswithTerry Totally agree, though while I don’t hang back in the Schlieffen I have had to do cap rushes in St Vincent as in randoms people often don’t do what they are supposed to. 😂 I do prefer the Schlieffen for play style, but in the current DD-heavy meta I find it a bit harder to play consistently than tthe StV. You can defend yourself against DDs better than most (non-Italian) BBs, but the fact that they’re spotting you makes you an instant target for BBs to focus down. At least the spotting nerf for CV non-fighter squadrons helps it out.

GK was my second tier 10 ship ever, and the grind wasn’t even that bad. Every ship I played was extremely fun (even FDG) and it is a line I recommend to anyone to loves to brawl. But I don’t have much experience with the split line, but I hear, and seen that the line is very, very fun

GK was my first T10 BB, still working on the Schlieffen. Back in the day, GK used to be nigh unstoppable, but with the proliferation of 18'' guns, it's not as clear cut anymore. Kremlin is a match at close range, comes down to RNG, so it's not just HE spammers anymore. I'd say today, I'm playing GK more carefully, and Schlieffen is actually a better match for my style in general. Still, both good ships.

Schleiff with prop and engine mod gives a 35+ knot speed I use to flank extra wide, appear from nowhere and wreck whatever is there. Except Benham, Shima and Somers. High capacity torpedo boats are the only natural enemy of the Schleiff.

I quite like the concealment build, since it serves the same purpose - reduce the time to close in on enemy ships. Speed Schlieffen sounds fun, too, but you'll end up being more exposed to ranged fire.

Thanks for a great and informative video Terry! I have both GK and Schlieffen, and they are both good ships. But like you say they play very differently. Schlieffen in a game where it works, is soo much fun 😁. I agree with your points here! Loking forward to the next video in this "series". Danke!

I personally like using both and it really depends how im feeling, if I feel like playing more so "traditional" battleships, then I use the Kurfurst line. If I feel like using battlecruisers then I use the Schelifien line.

Since getting APCS+ on Admiral Hipper yesterday, I've gotten multiple 100k damage games in my Schlieffen. I may not always win, but the damage output is insane

Fun video. When brawling another BB as Schlieffen, I often change the secondaries to HE.

Yes, you can actually get some fires that way, but if the target doesn't live long enough to let them burn 😁 I usually use AP and target centre / smokestack. That leads to the 150s impacting, at least in part, on the stern for some full pens.

Hey Terry I am a big fan of the German tech line and their battleship/battlecruiser line is by far my favourite. I have pulled 128k + damage in the BC line with the Schlieffen and with no real effort. I find he is best at a sort of Run and Gun. Never pushing forward but use it to clear up the middle line of battle of anything that has broken through. I also use him to back up the flanks if one looks weaker. Schlieffen is fantastic and I prefer it to GK 4:1. Just hard for DD's and CA/CLs to overcome those destructive secondaries. Keep the great videos coming.

I fully agree with your assessment of the BC line - the Zieten is awful, almost as bad as the Izumo is in the Japanese BB line. I'm grinding through it now, and I'm sorely tempted to blow my hoard of Free XP to get to the Rupprecht.

Terry yours is the only channel that focuses almost entirely on Blitz. I'm a 10 match a day minimum, player. I do hope your channel grows my friend. I recently made a video about the GK and how the line fits in the meta. As someone who loves the GK, your main struggle is carriers and anything fire spammers, just like what your described. I still think that GK can somewhat be meta, but if your in a CV game against something like an FDR….good luck

HE spammers always have been the counter to German ships, but I think it's shifted a bit with the introduction of lines like the PA and IJN CLs. Carriers are a problem for any unsupported BB, since you've got to take the torps on the chin. I'd actually argue that the GK is stronger than Schlieffen in a CV game, since she can work as a traditional BB, whereas Schlieffen really can't.

@@FunandGameswithTerry yea I 100% agree. But you can only tank CV damage for so long, and while that's going on, Smolensk, Yodos, Jinans, Worecesters, Haragumos, all those things open up and set you on permanently fires and permanently floods. Just painful
