When an object is being overlapped, do you make the objects line thicker entirely when it’s in front. or only on the place they visually make “t” lines , or overlap the object?

Very helpful tips! The thicker lines seem to usually suggest shadow, thickness, depth and such, giving a sense of visual "weight". Your lines in particular are very pleasing and well balanced! I generally prefer thin lines in my artwork, but it does feel too uniform a lot of times. I'm trying to incorporate a wider range of line weight and thickness.

Great video! For me, studying skilled manga artists are my favorite way to try and make sense of line weight. I love looking at pencil work that mangakas do too, especially videos. Seeing the decisions being made in real time really gives a wonderful idea on how to make those choices.

wow, I'm so glad to hear another artists describe with fresh terminology what I've come to obsess over when it comes to my own line work. I'm no where near as good at planes as you, not yet at least, but I have for many years been very focused on line weight, whisper lines and the way certain surfaces and planes cast almost invisible lines that the eyes just sort of fill in. very good video

Honestly, back in university my art teacher said that line thickness should vary depending on depth. Things that are further away from the viewer should have thinner lines. However for me personally I feel that thickness should vary depending on form change. The side of the nose should have a thicker line than the constructive/whisper lines at the tip and onstrils, because form doesn't change that much. And of course light coming from above thus a good area for thicker lines is forms that are moving away from the light.

I didn't know I needed a video like that! Whenever someone tells me what I love and hate about art, it's a process. I love sketching, it feels so good, I could sketch all day and night I hate Lining, it feels just like tracing my already done sketch, nothing creative being done here. (Which can now change) then coloring... gosh I hate coloring, feels like work, not art XD And then we have shading, I melt away shading, it's the best thing in the world, Shading is awesome, seeing how a piece slowly gets more and more depth. So Now I just gotta learn ways how to make Coloring fun and art's gonna be much more fun again
