I think it is cause C is a constant and does not add anything to the multiplication of two orthogonal vectors that equals zero.

Shouldn't the distance between x and the projection be (x^2-projection^2)^.5 and not just x-projection? x-projection is something entirely different, right? Or is it somehow different because they are vectors? EDIT: Just kidding, dumb mistake. Great video :)

Yes we can. But I think the point here is that this formula can be easily extended to higher dimension spaces, as long as it is an inner product space.
