I’ve seen so many roofers take for granted the thin plastic covering and neutral wire when they are working near a roof stack. I try to educate them in the danger of the cost having a small crack or the neutral not being what they think it is. Could you do a video that educates the people regarding this type of wire that goes to their roof stack on a overhead plant versus an underground plant.

Been an industrial processing electrician, now high voltage electrician with the state of California. Gona get my switchman training for 115kv. If I could do it over I would go for line man. You guys do what few would. Keep up the great content 👏

I need to order a new stick, do you have any experience with chance vs Hastings? Quote I got back has the Hastings about $100 cheaper, wondering if it’s worth it.
@Bobsdecline

I think they're both great products. There's a few differences between sticks with moveable parts that come down to preference. I've never used the Hastings grab-all, but love their Telescopic

With Hastings shotguns you hold the stick so the button is on the side to have the hook pointed up.

We have hot sticks in the foundry I work in. Some of our equipment has 900 amp switches and fuses. Last week one of my coworkers didn’t want to take the time to get one, so he decided to use a steel handled slag rake that was lying close by. Fortunately the supervisor saw what he was doing and stopped him, giving him a written warning at the same time. He grumbled and whined but I told him he’s damn lucky someone stopped him. The concrete he was standing on was wet from cooling water overspray and he was in a puddle. Who knows what would have happened?

Quick question, for 20 years I worked in Ontario doing underground utilities, working very close with a Hydro company. When we had to replace vaults or primary lines, any primary being replaced was spiked to ensure it was indeed dead or non energized. It that practice still used? I know a few times it definitely proved it’s worth.
@Bobsdecline
@Bobsdecline 2 жыл бұрын
It certainly is! Most times tho, we're able to ground at the termination and pull from there. If the cutting point is in a pit midway where only part of a cable is being replaced ... We will still ground on either end, but then use a wireless cutter in the pit. The cutter will ground/drain the cable as it goes through.

You know it seems like all the journeymen at my school like the orange hot sticks while all of us students like the yellows, interesting divide
@iwrestledapizza
@iwrestledapizza 4 жыл бұрын
I would guess the orange ones are 6footers and yellow are 8foot? Most guess who have been doing this rather have a shorter stick to work. Personally like a 4foot shotgun stick.
@bryanlettow4389
@bryanlettow4389 4 жыл бұрын
I liked the yellow ones too. I remember that on those shotguns the lever has to face you in order for the hook to release straight up. I think Chance makes the orange ones?
@TGoody2217
@TGoody2217 4 жыл бұрын
@@bryanlettow4389 yeah chance makes the orange and I believe hastings makes the yellows, I just find the yellows easier to use
@brenteichel7661
@brenteichel7661 4 жыл бұрын
Orange (chance) sticks are much stiffer and you can get more torque when removing taps or using it as a hammer lol, the yellow Hastings sticks have a more ergonomic button, easier to get used to if you've never used one. The hook end also seems to fit into ground chain eyes better idk why
