Thank you for this video. How do I save it so I don't have to recreate it anytime I open my revit
@miketaylor82112 жыл бұрын
The Filters save as part of the project. Create a permanent view in your project if you like.. the items will automatically turn on and off in that view. And you can make a view Template that applies the filters.

Hi Mike. Thanks for the video! I wanted to ask you what would be the best method to migrate lineweights from autocad into revit?
@miketaylor82114 ай бұрын
I wish there was a quick easy way to migrate lineweights... but you will need to edit them in Revit. But, good news.. you only have to do it once! :)

Great video. The zigzag pattern isn't working for me and is just showing solid. Does anyone know how to correct this. (I have selected zigzag in line pattern)
@miketaylor82113 жыл бұрын
To be honest.. Revit doesn’t do ZigZag lines. It can only do straight and then it can have different ‘patterns’ of straight. My guess is that you imported a cad drawing that had zigzag lines in it.. it came into Revit, but Revit can’t use it. But there is a way. ;) You can make a simple zigzag Detail Component, and then make it repeating. Want a video? What are you needing a zigzag for anyway?

But how to retain those line weight when printing in paper?

Hi Mike....my window external and internal wall lines (floor plan) show up with a thick line like the wall line. How do i reduce the thickness to a thin line around the window?
@miketaylor82112 жыл бұрын
The sills may be set too high of a number (like a 4 or 5). Go to Object Styles and browse down to the Windows, expand it so you can see what the sills are set to and you can lower it to a 1 or 2.

how did you make the inner lines of the wall different line weight?
@miketaylor82113 жыл бұрын
The inner lines of a wall are called 'Common Edges'. You can change them GLOBALLY by going to Object Styles, scroll down and expand the Walls category. You will see their settings there. IF you want to change them for only one view, use Visibility Graphics Override (VG on the keyboard), scroll down and expand the Walls category. You will see the settings there. I hope this helps.

Thank you for another useful video. I have a question for you. Revit offer an invisible line style which you can only apply when you override graphics, or when you create regions? Is there a way to apply it in an object style? Or at least a way to to quickly override all the edges of an object? I tried to create an invisible line style by adding a very large number in space area but then the length of the solid part has a strange behavior.
@miketaylor82113 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe you can make the ‘edges’ of an object invisible. I did a visual trick one time and made the edges WHITE... and they seemed to disappear (as long as it was white beyond).
@nikouer3 жыл бұрын
@@miketaylor8211 there must be a solution. There is a workaround take an solid or mesh object in 3dsmax select edges and make them invisible there. After export that and import directly in Revit or in a family. The edges will remain invisible.
@miketaylor82113 жыл бұрын
@@nikouer Seems like a lot of work... but may be the only way to those edges invisible if you really need the to be.

HI. Can you show how to create different type of line styles. if i want add a "X" or any other Text with in the line styles how to create that.
@miketaylor82113 жыл бұрын
Revit doesn’t allow any TEXT or symbols inside the Line Styles. The only way to add those is by creating a Repeating Detail Component or a Line-Based Detail Component.... that way you can insert text or other symbols.

Looks like a good topic for a Revit Tip!

What is the difference between model line and detail line? LI and DL?
@miketaylor82112 жыл бұрын
Ohmygosh YES... there is a HUGE different between a Model Line and Detail Line. A Model Line is a model object and can be seen in any view and even in 3D... a Detail Line is only visible in the view it is created in... because it's an annotation object.

I have changed the line weights but the changes were not visible .. only the color was visible but the line weight never changes no matter how many times I changed it .. so can you please give me a solution ?
@miketaylor82113 жыл бұрын
Sometimes people accidentally leave their view in 'single line mode' known as THIN LINES, and all the lineweights will be the same. But if you turn OFF this setting, you will see all the appropriate line weights. This may not be the case for you, but you should check. Go to View Tab and you will see the Thin Lines on/off toggle.

If I mess up the line settings how can I reset it to default?
@miketaylor82112 жыл бұрын
Oooooo, good question. There is a ‘template’ that ships with Revit. The linetypes and linestyles are ‘default’ in that model. You can TRANSFER PROJECT STANDARDS from that file to yours.
