Thanks Dave for the shout out - nearly fell off the seat!! Would love to take up your offer one day, hope we can get across sometime in 2024. Lingmoor Fell is a great mountain, very central, views all round. We got lost in the forest when we did it, but got back on track and followed your route. Liked your speak on signs, we've always thought it strange that there is a minimalist approach to signage on mountains. We've done trails in the US and Canada and they are superbly marked, signage at every key point, but there are huge numbers on those trails. In the UK people would either vandalise them or nick them if they aren't bolted down but the National Trust could do more as they have the manpower and the money. Regards, Ashley

I mean I've seen the stretcher boxes on the hills vandalised so maybe ya right about that.. I am passionate about the subject though and feel the Wainwrights should be elevated with notable un nickable signs.. Well I get plenty of time off and can arrive anywhere in the lakes within 1 hour or so.. so am happy to join any decent length walks ya might have planned for 2024. Cheers 🙂

Another great video Dave! You’re right about getting out of bed and getting into the car being the hardest part of a hike 😆

yea its the same every time for me, but once the car has warmed up its all good and a full day ahead to enjoy eh :)

Nice one chief, this is the next Fell on my list and I was going to do it from Blea Tarn but this looks a lot better and closer for me and I also love Elterwater too. I agree with you on signage, there should be a lot more and as long as they are not too intrusive, I cannot see a problem, although, I know a lot of people complain saying there should be no signs and everyone should be using and know how to use map and compass blah blah...Cheers Alan

its a great route, id probably recommend continuing round to side pike through the 'fat mans agony' squeeze.. not done it myself but looks a bit of fun.. I just think with the signs its a bit of gatekeeping.. we should all probably have to kill our own food but technology and systems improve all the time so we dont have to. Thanks for watching lad :)

@@daveostlemountainman I must admit, whilst I'm doing the Wainwrights I'm in no rush to tick them off. I'm starting to look at the Birketts. A lot are smaller hills but off the beaten track so tend to be much less quieter. Although they do involve a lot of off piste work! Haha

Another great video Dave. We walk from Skelwith Bridge to Slater's Bridge to Elterwater as a circular almost weekly and so I've often wondered what Lingmoor Fell would be like to climb. Now I know. It's on the list. The little tips you give about the route like this at 15:32 are very useful. I need to know what's in the cave at 5:57 now!

ive been watching alot of 'caving' videos on youtube recently and it reaffirms my stance never ever go in one.. whatever is in there can stay there haha

@@daveostlemountainman Wise move. When I first saw it, I thought it was part of the tunnel network where Cathedral Cave is. I assume you have been in there. It's very impressive.
