Hello Sam, Great content as always 👍 I was just wondering why the number of referring domains looks different when looking at Ahrefs. For example, it looks different when you set your home page as the exact URL on Ahrefs and set it as a domain. What would be the right way to view referring domains that go to the home page??

When you check the exact URL in Ahrefs, it shows you the referring domains pointing only to that specific URL. In contrast, when you're checking for the entire domain, we show the referring domains for all URLs for that domain. -Helen

The 301 redirect idea is interesting but I don't see why someone would want to redirect from their page to my page.

Not exactly :) You're asking a website owner to change the link to another site's irrelevant link to your link. It's not an internal link change, it's a backlink change. -Helen

​@@cronicatech Point #1 is> suppose you build a link from an external website about "Tea" by using an anchor text "making tea" for one of your post about how to make tea. After few years, you may need to delete that particular pages for some reason. So., basically you may find a relevant post in your website about "type of tea" (for ex.) to create redirect from the older post (how to make tea). But, the two articles is completely different from a users search intent. Point #2: Remember you made a backlink for your older post about "how to make tea". That means, that particular backlink is now pointed to your new post about "type of tea". Do you think is that make any sense from a user perspective? The visitor from the external website will not get any value when they click the anchor "making tea". The search engine also get distracted by this which causes a negative impacts to the external website. #3. Now, suppose I'm looking for creating a backlink to my post about "how to make tea" and I found the external site that provided link to your old article about making tea which is now redirected to a completely irrelevant article.

Outreach is the most shitty way of getting backlinks, I have three sites and the amount of emails I get for links is insane and my sites aren't even that big. So I can only imagine how many emails bigger sites get, stop wasting you time because most if your (automated) emails will not be read or end up in the spamfolder.
