Hi Andrea, thank you for this video, I was actually having a look at it recently so it's good to see your insights on this... one quick thing that came to mind when I was looking at this is: Yes, it's great to have your linktree inside your custom domain, and it's nice that its super customisable and generate traffic, but what about the backlinks? One of the things that I actually really like about third party link-sites is that they generate backlinks which help (even slightly) with the SEO of your page... and generally these sites have pretty high domain authority, so having those links is quite healthy (even the free plan ones). Do you think that the benefits of having a custom design and domain and website traffic out-weight the backlink opportunity? Thanks again for your videos! big fan!

You are very welcome! I definitely am not an SEO expert but while third-party links can indeed help with SEO to a degree, the benefits of integrating your link in bio within your own domain often outweigh the potential gains from these backlinks, especially when you consider the long-term value of brand consistency, user experience, and data control. Each situation might be different, so it would be useful to consider the specific goals and context of your brand when making this decision.

@@andreaegli thank you for your reply. Yes, as a branding oriented designer I appreciate your opinion and also believe that keeping everything on-brand and with great design is top priority. Viewing this from a different perspective, clients will NOT see the backlinks or how it affects the SEO, and I suppose you can still create a free linktree with backlinks to your website and not use it 😂 All the best! Good luck with your moving if you haven't relocated yet! 🤟🏼

On link tree you can have a button where if someone clicks it all of your contact details will download onto their phone and they can save you as a contact. Is there a way to do that on the Elementor link in bio??
@andreaegli5 ай бұрын
I haven't tried this yet but you can just upload your contact info as a vCard (.vcf file) to your WordPress Media Library, then use one of the link in bio widgets with buttons and link to this file and set it to download

@@andreaegli thanks, I did try this but for android it just downloaded the vcf file (not as fluid as I'd like it to be) and I think it didn't work at all for IOS. Ive searched online and it seems a lot of people have this issue and without a custom built API which I assume Linktree use then it's not possible 👎🏼

@@ShaneCatney-r9y ok, I will try to figure this out and report back when I can...if you find the solution, please share it with us. I will report this back to Elementor, maybe they will take it into consideration ;)

what‘s the benefit of this exactly? 7 widgets/ elements to build a link in bio that is very easy to build from scratch. i might miss something. otherwise it‘s just one big stupid decision and elementor is having issues with priorites. i mean come on they could have added 7 widgets for responsive menu designs - the benefit would be 10x except your only goal is to get more software subscribtions from users that barely use the tool. i hope this will be one big fail for them.

Tim, no need to get so upset about this. if you have any grievances, address them respectfully. it might be easy for us web designers to make these super quick but people who are not web designers might want to use smth already made rather than fuss with all the widgets. please be more empathetic.

@@andreaegli excuse my harsh words. i understand your point. however if „easy to build for non-webdesigners“ is the reason for these new widgets then i question how this aligns with other rather advanced features. on the other hand for more advanced web designers the link in bio tools make little sense. it‘s just sus in my opinion. and again sorry for the wrong tone of voice

@@tim_neuneu hey, no worries, we're all entitled to our own opinions but respect is important in this community. The way I see it, Elementor is trying to grab the attention of two groups: web designers & non-web designers. So, I guess that answers your question of how this aligns with other rather advanced features. This in turn makes the whole development of features a bit longer than we'd want. I'm not taking anyone's side here, you might be right, I might be wrong, I don't know but what I know for sure is that we need to work with what we have and find creative ways while doing that. no builder is perfect....
